Any of you Tossers ride a pushbike?

2014 started today with 45mins on the Turbo Trainer with ACDC as my soundtrack, I'm ready for lunch.

Yip.

I've not sat on a bicycle saddle for 6 weeks resulting in a 7lb increase in my weight.

Back on the Turbo tomorrow for an hour and the same every Monday, Wednesday & Friday for the foreseeable. Ken Bruce will be the soundtrack of choice.

I'm aiming to be back down to 12 stone 4lb by the end of Feb.

I managed a nice 24K out on the MTB this morning. Jubilee river trail to Windsor and the Thames tow path for the route back. Very muddy and slippery with flooding along parts of the river path but had a blast, thoroughly enjoyed it. The turbo trainer is being delivered Tuesday so i'm planning an hour a day on the days i don't ride into work. It's a 22K ride one way and on the MTB is a good work out so i'm hoping to do this at least twice a week!!

I got out this morning for the first 2014 ride, it was fecking cold!
Managed 19 miles in 1hr 35' with 957 ft of elevation whilst burning 608 calories although I think I've just "unburned" that with some huge chicken fajitas.:)

Once I get my legs back I'll get that time down another 20 minutes.

Sorry, but 'K's aren't allowed on this thread, so that'd be 6 miles this morning -v- 5 miles to work.

:nenau

my bum bones are feeling tender today, looks like my short winter break was enough to soften them up!

Ive got to get out on mine. December on Tenerife with the In-laws, followed by Xmas hasn't done my racing snake figure any good at all.

The MTB brakes are now all sorted, Rohloff (ex eBay) with chain tensioner working well and I've even managed to fit a proper mudguard to the back wheel so no excuses.

I've put on 2.5Kg over the Christmas break which for me is not too bad. Did a 20 mile ride yesterday and will be in the gym tonight trying to get back on track!

I had yet another puncture yesterday making that 3 in as many months. I'm using 25mm Continental Gatorskins which are supposed to be fairly robust. Does this seem excessive? I know the roads have a lot of crap on them at the moment but even so its a pain having to replace the innertube when its 2 degrees, howling a gale and you've been sweating a while. On the positive side to that I used a gas cannister to blow it up - so much better than by pumping by hand!

I use Schwalbe Ultremo ZX's & have yet to have a puncture (now jinxed obviously).
That said I only ever use the bike outside when I'm doing Sportives & if there looks to be a lot of wear on the tyre I swap them over before doing the ride.

Average bpm 156 :D
Popmaster points - 6 :blast

Another 45mins on the TT tonight.
Apart from arsebones feeling slightly tender I'm feeling great, very good to be back in the saddle

A few months ago I decided to buy a good set of lights so I could ride through winter. With the current road conditions I'm not sure if that was the right choice over a turbo trainer or rollers as I just don't feel safe enough to ride at night with the rain and crap roads. My alternative is the gym which I can use for free whenever I want and I tend to do 25 mins on the rower followed by 45 minutes on the bike. The problem is boredom. I have music playing etc but I'm not sure if I can keep this level of effort up without going brain dead. I had thought the same might be true of a turbo trainer when I looked into those as an option. But how about rollers - anyone use them? I'm thinking they would be a good option as if I get bored I'll fall off so that might keep me alert if nothing else.

As you can see from my pics/posts I use Turbo Trainer during the shit weather ...I just set some music off on my iphone with a 45min timer going.....I have never tried rollers.

What a bunch of fuckin' gay boys!

Get out there in the cold, wind & rain. Once you get warmed & loosened up it's fantastic. Lezyne light pushing out 500 lumens is like riding under floodlights.

Turbo trainers, sore bottoms and strava - Man the fuck up? :dabone

:D

The problem I have is that I physically can't see the road if its both dark and raining. I can do either on their own but my eyesight won't do both! I've had three punctures in the last few months and having to change a tube in the rain, in the middle of nowhere when its dark doesn't fill me with joy. And my front light is 1100 lumens :P I'm riding in the dark and enjoy it but you may have noticed a little precipitation recently.
