Any of you Tossers ride a pushbike?

keep going...the weight will fall off. When you're interest starts to wain, buy a garmin cycle satnav (about £90) and it'll open up a whole new interest in making you competitive through posting your results onto strava.

Take my advice ....

DO NOT set the Garmin display to show current speed and average speed. You absolutely feck yourself trying to keep your actual speed above the average!

Or try the Virtual Partner setting which shows in real time how far you are behind in time, distance and graphic form :D

Chuck the speedo away for good, nothing but bad training, TITS is what you need (time in the saddle) and riding at an easyish pace.
Heart rate monitor O.K. but only if you know what to do with it.
Saturday last 130 KM in hilly West Cork 29KMH....

Worked out the average after the ride, much safer.

I have to admit to go out and hunt segments I know I'm good at.... Dont need any fancy Garmin crap, just sling the App on your phone....

People take this shite very seriously. I had been involved in a friendly rivalry with another local cyclist. When I beat his record on one of the most coveted segments, he became so upset that he changed his Strava privacy setting so that I could no longer see his times. Then he unfriended me on Facebook. :D

I have just brought myself a hybrid bike to start getting out on a bit. I don't want to do all this lycra stuff, just gentle cycle rides when the weathers nice. Really enjoyed riding along the Exeter ship canal the other week, trouble is its been too bloody hot to go out since then. Someone suggested a 4 of 5 day mooch along the Mosel Valley as a holiday idea just doing 20 miles a day staying in little guest houses along the way, that really appeals.

all he had to reply when you beat his time...."well, you do have a $10k bike....!"

I've not noticed any extra drain when the App is on tbh...btw you can lock the screen and the app carries on running without the display being lit.

I have lost about 7lbs in that time so still around the 17 stone mark. I'm going to have to try much much harder, up the intensity...... and eat a lot less crap!

It's a win-win. The more you ride the more weight you'll lose. The more weight you lose the easier the ride becomes & the more you enjoy it. Don't be fooled, every pound lost is worth it.

And does anyone know why my left hand/arm keeps going numb after about 10 miles and not the right?

Got a pair of decent gel gloves?

Just been out today and got a quote for the C2W scheme, so that should see me on my first road bike in a couple of weeks time :thumb2

I turn off data and stick it in my back pocket... It coped with my 80 miles the other day, with battery to spare... So probably 6 hours....

Picking up a 2014 Giant Defy 1 on Saturday, never had a road bike before but now in a position that I can use it a couple of days a week to commute which in turn will help with my fitness to use my MTB which I have only been really playing on the last couple of years

Biggest decision now is what colour to get, Blue or Black, shop are ordering and building up both colours and I will decide on Saturday which one to take :beerjug:

I reckon bikes and motorbikes go well together - when your fed up of the constant droning engine and wind noise its great to get out and do some pedalling. Then its great to get on the motorbike when your fed up of pedalling the bastardin bike!

Incidentally for weight loss go low to med intensity + long duration.

Just collected a Specialized Crosstrail for general use and done a 12 mile circuit.

It's nothing like my road bike!!!
