Any of you Tossers ride a pushbike?

You Sir, clearly have good core strength, balance and ability :beerjug: If you're a bit more of a novice then be careful with rollers as they can result in several upside down, painful interactions with your floor, patio doors, walls etc.

Good for high cadence work though!

Best way to start is in a doorway so you can lean either side. Keeping hands/arms closer to your body helps the balance. Took me several weeks to get proficient and I haven't crashed yet although there seems a certain inevitability about it. I like the fact you have to concentrate and you can't get bored! I'm also glad I got one with different resistance levels as that allows me to do different types of workout. Tend to do 45-60 minute stints at a time.

The summers here so head out and get some fresh air - there's plenty of time for turbos in the winter time :aidan

Very true, but with two young kids, who both have chicken pox, my weekend pass out has been cancelled!
Turbo action is all I'm gonna get this weekend ;)

Yeah, yeah, but having a spare bike clipped into the trainer means I'm more likely to fit in the odd 45 mins here and there where I can't be arsed to kit up for a road ride. Which is quite often for my lardy arse.

And even with the clocks forward, by the time I get home it's dark. Recreational cycling on country roads = no-no.

Well then - elite or Tacx are all fine. No need to spend more than £100 as they're only a rudimentary frame supporting your bike.

Have fun. :thumb2

London-to-Brighton

Anyone got a decent Garmin (.gpx or similar) route for London-Brighton?

Question for the mtb riders

Got back into mtb'ing after a 20 year or so layoff after buying a used specialized rockhopper from here and am absolutely loving it, doing the surrey hills at every opportunity.

So much so I have bought new tyres - on-one smorgasbords and about to get new wheels - to replace a rather knackered front wheel, bike stand, the pile of bicycle bits keeps growing in the garage.

My question is the smorgasbords are a 2.25 width, I have inner tubes that are 2.125, should I bother getting tubes that go up to 2.25, which typically means inner tubes that go up to 2.4/5.

I ask as I had a few issues with the tyres at the w/e, tyre coming off the rim at the front, three punctures, which could all be just one of those things, but it never happened with the narrower tyres.

Loving this thread btw.

I just Googled 'Strava Cycling London to Brighton' & it brought me up a no. of links, including routes that can be exported. I can't see them properly as we have an outdated Browser at work but could be worth looking at?

Try to get some wheels which can be run tubeless. I've been using a tubeless setup for a couple of years now 7 not had a puncture. (that's done it!) You can really feel the difference, rolls better, more grip & a slight weight saving too!

After a long winter on the turbo trainer it is good to be pedalling in the fresh air.

To add: I got the MTB out as local roads are completely ruined by the flooding with massive potholes and sharp gravel everywhere.

Bought myself a hybrid today to add to the growing fleet, it's sole purpose is to transport me and the boy along the canal to the pub.

Edit.

I'd been painting hence the scruffs and hats will be worn on our first adventure.:thumb2

Had a few outings now with junior and today we did 17 miles along the canal to feed the ducks!
Really enjoyable few hours.:thumb

Excellent, any pics?

edit:...is "feed the ducks" code for "went to the pub"? ;)

No pics from today but these are from last week. We did go to the pub but only for a brew as it was a bit parky out there!

Edit. Not sure how we managed a sideways pose but you get the jist!
