Any of you Tossers ride a pushbike?

I tried strava and didn't like it! Just too much like Facebook on wheels for my liking .... and I don't like taking a telephone out on my pushbike!

So on the advise of a tosser I purchased a Garmin Edge 510. :thumb

It fires up and locks onto the GPS/Glonass satelites in 15 secs every time. Battery life just goes on and on, and you will get 10 or so 2 hour rides without problem.
Data uploads via your mobile or plugged into the laptop to the Garmin Connect website.

I just like it - It works anytime, any weather!

... and you can still send your stuff to strava if that's your thing. ;)

+1 for Garmin. Although mine is the poverty spec Edge 200 but all of the above applies. :thumb2

I use Map my ride (cos I got into it years ago) and I can upload the Garmin data into it.

Garmin Edge 800 for me as I use the route mapping. Use Garmin connect to log trips - I am on Strava but don't really use it much.

I improved my Garmin Edge 800 massively by installing Opensource mapping, some details here. It makes it possible to follow a route on roads you're more likely to be cycling on!

If we do go ahead and set up a ukgser "club" within Strava this is the kind of thing you will see if you join.
This is one of the "clubs" that I subscribe to.
http://app.strava.com/clubs/wilier-worldwide-web-team

Weekly leaderboards on Distance, longest Ride and Climbing. Also listings of each members recent rides.

If Paul gives the go ahead I'll start the ukgser one up.

Whilst the data and analysis is good from a personal perspective (always seeking to improve) what drives me away from such "clubs" is that they generally become a dick measuring contest.

That's fair enough. No obligation to join. If there isn't enough interest in setting this up I won't bother. It's just a thought as there seem to be a few Strava users on here.

I'm in the same boat really as I'm not cycling for any competitive reasons (other than with myself) which is why I stick to Garmin Connect for the analysis and recording of rides for future use.

My mate is a prime example. He keeps inviting me to follow him on strava & view his progress?

Same here!

I don't feel the need to share my data with the world. :beerjug:

I don't mind Strava. I used it as a training tool and it certainly improved my fitness. Its not something to take seriously.

I don't mind joining but all you will see is how little I've ridden this year!

Strava ! GPS I know my way around the few miles I travel on my bike, I do use an Aldi cycle computer to record my mileage though, heres my latest acquisition, a Triumph no less :thumby:

I'll probably put the UKGSer/Strava in place after this weekend.

You can decide if you want to participate or not... I'm not a Strava devotee but I do use it to measure myself against myself.
But, some like it, others don't. It's no odds to me either way.

Once it's up I'll start another thread to say how to play... if no one wants to play I'll take it down.
