the garage block at the back of my place was 2-3inchs of solid ice last night but after an incredible thaw its all gone today:JB

so i can get the bike out to the road without impending disaster:thumb2

when i get back tomorrow i is off for a ride:)

right well managed to get out for a quick ride. now my screen set up on my bike is pretty much perfect for me so ive not had the turbulence issues nomad talks about.

so do they make much difference , i think so there seemed to be better protection from the chill over all. i need to take a longer ride. but ive trapped a nerve in my back and got a stinking cold too:blast

as for the aux socket on the GS the GSA came with one as standard on the beak but the GS did not. so the GSA sets the tone for the position of the cut out.

Jonathan is now in talks with the plastics guys to try and set a reasonable price.

and we will be going with conventional stainless fixings and nylon washers as the rubber wellnuts cost a bloody fortune:eek

so once the costings are done we can give a price and lead time on the first batch.

gonna take some pills and feck orf to bed now:augie:P

In that case, should I presume that it is possible to drill your own hole, for the different positioned power socket, in the winglets without a cutout already in it? If so, what size hole would it need?

Right – we’re going to offer two versions:

Part # 2100 – for BMW R1150GS / GSA WITH Tobinators £48.00 + P&P

Part # 2101 – for BMW R1150GS / GSA WITHOUT Tobinators £45.00 + P&P

Both of these will have the cutout for the standard power socket that is fitted to the GSA beak, as shown in Chad’s picture.

If you have retrospectively fitted a power socket elsewhere on your beak, then it will be down to you to decide whether to drill or not.

They are going to be manufactured from 4mm clear Polycarbonate, pre-drilled fixing holes, and full stainless steel/nylon fittings kit to install to your bike.

We anticipate these to be available in the Rugged Roads webshop around mid January – so will post back here when they are in stock and on the shelf.

Now - we can't call them Winglets as it's a registered product name - so you lot can come up with some suggestions for what to call them..............I'll start off with 'FAIRY WINGS' :D :hide :D

Why not test it with only one fitted?

BEAKCHEEKS

how about

ailerons.
Ailerons can be used to generate a rolling motion for an aircraft. Ailerons are small hinged sections on the outboard portion of a wing. ...

Maybe I am missing something, but I do not understand why the 'winglets' will fit the GS & GSA equally well and the differentiator is the existence of Tobinators. The standard GS screen is narrower than the GSA screen - not sure by how much but I guess around 40mm each side. That means that a 'winglet' that fits with the GS screen will leave a significant gap between it and a GSA screen.

Although I guess it is true that all Tobinated screens will be higher than screens without Tobinators, the whole point of the Tobinator is to give a massive range of screen adjustment and therefore a 'winglet' specifically designed for use with Tobinators will never have a perfect fit.

So I am wondering whether it would be better to have separate GS and GSA 'winglets'? Sorry, you probably don't want to hear this at this stage. If I am wrong, please enlighten me.

i have made the winglets to a width that will suit both the GS and GSA screens. im trying to cover all bases here, taller items for the tobinators and shorter to suit the standard screens , otherwise we end up with a stack of different winglets to cover every situation , much as we would like to do this its just not cost effective:(

They Are In

As promised, by mid-January, the first lot of wind deflectors are now in stock. Currently we only have them available to fit your R1150GS or R1150GSA if you also have tobinators fitted.

Made from 4mm polycarbonate and includes all stainless steel, and nylon fittings.

We've had to make some adjustments for standard screen bikes and it will be a few more weeks before they're ready.

So here they are - price £48.00 plus shipping:

Great to see things up and running.
any chance of having a picture showing how far back and at what angle the screen can go before the winglets get in the way?

Also, have we come up with a name yet?
How about bog standard wind deflectors?

well its like this....

Chad, do the fecking things work?
also is there a tosser discount code or summat to use?
If they work i want some please.ta
