Anybody Make Winglets?

Looking for winglets for an 1150 and cannot find anybody who sells them.
Is there anybody out there who works with plastics able to make any? I have not seen winglets before so cannot help with the design or know how they mount but if you are local to London/Kent then I coul bring the bike round.

Just what is a winglet?

Is it for mounting a screen...ie a cable grommet?

One of the guys who works at Motorworks has mounted 1200 Adv winglets on his 1150 Adv. I didn't look that closely at them but it looked like he'd just bolted/riveted them onto the plastics in front of the tank. I don't know the guys name but he's the bloke in his 50's (ish) with a beard. They're so helpful up there they'd probably put you on to him to pick his brains if you gave them a call.

An image search on goggle found an item similar to a shouldered nylon/plastic washer.....I actually have some in the workshop....I purchased them from a company called Reevite in the UK for a product we manufacture.

Easy to make them yourself - see here. Just cost a few quid for a sheet of Lexan off fleabay. I used a hot air stripper to bend it to shape and secured it with some dual lock. Can send you a template if I can find it !

Ahh he wants the whole thing....not just the fasteners......I have been known to be thick before today...

In that case I'd order a sheet of plastic and throw it on the cnc router.....Possibly make a plug and vac form a few.......Although not needing any places that out of the picture.

been thinking about this for a wee while.

now i know i can get them made up . but i was worried peeps might not be too keen on drilling their beaks to allow the use of the fixings.

now if their is enough interest then i will go ahead and make up some test pieces

and fit them to mine to see how they come out

hows that sound

Always weary about drilling into fairings but apart from velcro cannot see any other way.

once you make a mod like this it will become part of the bike , but if you did want to take them off its nothing a couple of stoppers wont sort,

i dont like the idea of velcro , to easy to swipe away.

leave it with me peeps i shall get to work with some templates source the fixings and get some patterns to the guy who does our headlight shields for us as he can do the forming as well

I was looking at some on ebay the other day (damm can't remember the make of them now). They went from the crash bars right upto the beak area, sculptured around the tank, they looked like they would protect your legs from alsorts of flying objects.

These are the wind deflectors for the legs rather than winglets.

I've just acquired some Wunderlich leg shields - have you any practical experience to report.
