Seeing as my nxt's are going square and I'm not over keen on them, what's your thoughts on the anakee 3 's.

Anakee 3

Mate has then on his, don't appear to be much better than next 3000 miles and squaring off and tread going down quickly , think I will try conti 3 next time when change rear and front.

I'm looking for an alternative to my Next so keep us posted on what you replace yours with:thumby:

Just done 2500 trip 2 up with luggage and a lot of autobahn / auto-route thrown in as well as some mountain twisties and very very wet roads. No noticeable wear at all, feel good on a 1200 ie steer well and perform way better than my capability, but I have tried several different makes and they all do (didn't like original pilot roads just made bike feel unwieldy). Only real comment is that they hum at 40/50 mph on very smooth European roads but don't seem to over here.
I found it rather relaxing and not a problem at all.

All in all if they ever wear out I would probably go for them again

I had a set untill a puncture wrote off the rear (i still have the front on) i was very impressed with them compared to metz tourance.
turn in seemed sharper and tracking and stability also improved through bends. excelent in the rain (unlike me)
As said the rear was written off but the front has now done about 3K and is still performing well

Fronts are not the problem with NEXTs . Rear is wearing really badly

What are the Anakees like for going off road? Well, gravel tracks and fire roads, as that's as far off road as my bike will be going:comfort:D

In Tuscany the other week we found the road changed from tarmac to hard gravel on several occasions, sometimes for mile on end . I was happy my tyres had a little off road capability designed in just to give the confidence that I would not do any damage. They were fine but I was only going slowly as I have no off road experience and there were lots of potholes to try and avoid. I noticed afterwards that there were no stones lodged in the very deep tread so guess the blocks move around a bit to stop that happening. All in all very satisfied

Nutty

What don't you like about the Metzler next's, or are you just after a change.?
Cheers

I have a pair of these on my 07 1200 Hexhead if it helps

I have done about 3k on mine. They do hum but not a real problem. Seem to stick well although the rear broke away whilst accelerating hard up hill and I hit a drain cover. However, just rode back from that there London place today and they were super sticky on the A303 roundabouts when pushing hard.
A very slight hint of squaring off. I normally get 12k from the rear and 20k from the front with the original Tourances. Mind you at those mileages they are completely fecked.
I just bought a pair of Conti Trail Attacks from M&P £139.99 so they are ready to go on in the winter.

I'm impressed with the Anakee's.

Suprising levels of grip and seem to warm up very quickly.

What has suprised me is the size of the chicken strips ;) on the rear. I'm almost to the edge of the front tyre and yet a stubborn 3/4" strip remains on the rear.

Seems to me that the Anakee 3 and Tourance next have wildly differing opinions and wear rates, all for similar bikes.

Agreed. Mines have covered nearly 4k and the show only slight wear. Cannot imagine why a rear would be done in 3k unless you are extremely hard on the bike. Found the tyre to be excellent in the dry and wet. Not tried them off road but that is not something that I do ( at least intentionally ! ).

Yep - I've done about a thousand miles now and still have a completely untouched strip on the rear .... :thumb2

Apparently from info found on google they have produced an updated next with slightly harder compound in the middle due to excessive tyre wear on the first batch of tyres, so depending when your tyre was made it could be within the second production run and therefore the excessive wear not be an issue.

Thanks for the info, expecting a replacement Next rear tomorrow from oponeo.
Centre of mine is shot after 3 k yet front is still very good. Hope it's from the new batch :eek
