I finally got around to removing the fuel tank and rewiring my Autocom and Autoswitch for the auxiliary lights. I took the 12V feed from the blue/grey wire in the heastock loom (Parking Light) rather than the CANBUS controlled accessory socket. The power draw for the Autocom and Autoswitch are minimal so the parking lamp cabling can easily cope with the current draw.
It's so nice not to have the Autocom turn itself on and off every 3 minutes now and my auxiliary lights go out unexpectedly.
No doubt BMW will now come out with a software update and fix the accessory socket problem.
I didn't rewire my Nav2 GPS so the original problem will probably still occur on my GPS now and then, but at least my tunes will be audible.
