Ok it may have nothing to do with the Autocom but had my 07 GS serviced Yesterday /Woolaston rode home approx 15mls stopped for a quick natter to a mate ,back to the Bike and the dreaded clik clik :spitfire, did start after another try but would not today ,Ive just been reading posts about the dreaded Battery probs and came across some discussion about the Canbus pissin about when accessories are wired to the auxillary socket ,Autocom themselves advise using the wires to the back of Auxillary but i,m beginning to have my doubts, does anyone have any up to the minute details on what's going on with the Gs electrics.
Put the bike on the this morning for 3hrs, bike started just ,I took a voltage reading 12.67v bit low I know and will have another check in the morning but it sounds like a call to BMW assist, shouldnt happen really tho fellas the batteries on a Optimate 90% when off the road and the bikes just a year old ,one would have thought the ride back from Woolaston would have put enough juice into the battery, saying that the battery is obviously knackered but im just worried about it happening again in France later this spring. My confidence is ****ed with BMWs and batteries had the same problems with both my old Boxercups ,do BMW use shit batteries or am I just unlucky ?
Ps
I fitted the Autocom over the Xmas holiday ,bikes been unused since then until the service.

The chances of our systems killing your battery will be very very slim due to the amount of GS's we fit here and also our other customers around the world. I would just say it unlucky and you have been supplied a duff battery

Sorry Rich

:blast:
Yeah well they come and fetched it today ,mechanic agreed with you Rich most likely a duff battery, still it was just the coincidence and after all it aint an old battery mate still I just hope they sort it ,my confidence with Beemers batteries after four on three bikes failing prematurely is as low can be, I do a couple of trips abroad each year and having two bikes fail across the pond makes me slightly paranoid over whether that start button is gonna work.

Optimates kill batteries. Trust me i have killed two batteries with two separate optimates and so has a friend of mine. Its ok to use occasionally but do not leave it on all the time the bike is laid up. Use it for a couple of days every couple of weeks if you are worried about your battery loosing charge.

I have had the same BMW battery for the last two years on my 12GS and run a Gerbing heated jacket with heated gloves and grips and ABS and Zumo and Autocom, HID lights and Bike to bike radio. I have never had any problems with it.

I do commute 120 miles a day though so battery is never left standing.

Mine has aux lights, satnav, Autocom and heated vest. Only used for leisure so gets left for days. Never had an Optimate or similar and its starts first time.

Update on Battery

Just thought I would give an update on my post/Bike was collected by Woolaston very promptly ,they checked it out ,yes battery u/s
bikes been checked over ,delivered back home next day, fair play to Woolaston for prompt service .:)
