Avon Trailrider review

I bought a pair for my gslc , £205, from oponeo, will fit them in the spring, my pr4s should see me through a trip to southern france in march

Is everyone still happy with these? I'm tempted to get some for the GSA. If anyone has seen any decent offers on a pair for the LC, please post a link up.:thumb

I'm very happy with mine, did a 5000km round trip to the Pyrenees in October and I reckon there's still another 3000km left in the rear and much more in the front. Much better than the original Annakees, more planted and confidence inspiring and they don't howl!
I paid €340 euros for the set but being a UK company there are better deals to be had in blighty:thumb

Pr4 rear squared off and wore out very quick on my LC. Dont go too far on worn ones.

Next time you get a heavily worn PR4 taken off the bike, pick it and have poke around at it............... it's no wonder they puncture so easily.......... the carcass is so light.

That's not an image of a Trailrider. It's just a generic image of "a tyre" It has "no image" written across the front of it. AV53 is the correct designation for a front Trailrider.

Ok, cheers.:thumb

Give them a try Nutty, I'll be shocked if you're not impressed.

I just need to make sure my dealer is happy to fit tyres that I source, or whether they want to get them in for the same price.:thumb

Thanks for the positive feedback guys,
I have been looking for something similar to the old tourances performance for wc gs
These new trail riders look like a great tyre from your experience,
Re the pr4 and scorpions , the carcass is soft and thin they can be folded up,
I fit my own tyres so its worth shopping for deals if you dont,
I bought now as the prices are favourable in winter,
Roamer

Just ordered a pair from Bahnstormer. £205, so less than a tenner more than the cheapest online retailers, for peace of mind.:beerjug:

Avon trailriders fitted yesterday on my 08 gsa, went out today an it's got a front end shimmy, feels like I'm riding on a very soft front tyre, had tourance exp's on prior and didn't have any problems with them, any ideas ?

Did this get resolved? I had the same issue with a front 3DXM on my Pan, turned out the tyre was oval. This after I've had issues with Storm2's and a Distanzia on the front of my 850 that just fell to pieces.
Avon make great tyres....badly. My Pans back on Michelins, the 3Ds made it very unsettled, even after they replaced the front with a 'round' one.

Mudslinger

Reading through this thread I see that there are no comments regarding these tyres rubbing against anyone who has a mudslinger fitted?

There was a thread here earlier in the year about this tyre not clearing some gs's fitted with a mudslinger anybody have any issues with this problem?

I am looking at either these or Dunlop road smart III's?

Im running Dunlop trailsmarts there good tyres don't square off as fast as ANK111 my mate has the new Scorions Pirelli on so we are seeing how there fair.

I think that was something to do with the LC with Mudsling Max, either way, like you, I can't be arsed to look for the thread, I have Trailriders on my TC and they clear the mudsling by some distance.
