I had a problem today with my brake light comming on permanently, turns out that with the new EVO brakes if your back light bulb goes then your brake light will stay on so that you WILL have a back light albeit no brake light (as its already on!).anybody eles knew this?

With all the BMWs electrical gremlins this just adds more.Good idea though.

...of course, some might say that designing a rear light with 2 bulbs would be a simpler solution....

Yes , Iv'e heard of this its also fitted to some other bikes, RT, RS I think.

Rear\Brake

ASFAIK
The brake lights operates at reduced output to mimic the rear if the latter fails. Brake light then operates as normal.
The ABS warning lights let you know - I think the lower light stays on permanently.
You can also create this situation by refitting the bulb the in the wrong orientation. ;)

Anyone tried the additional LED back light and brake light from touratech??????

Yep, did that. Very effective, but not cheap (£55ish). I also fitted Malky's 'Widetail' LEDs in my rear indicators (£45). A design with 2 bulbs would've made this extra expense unnecessary, though...
