After a more than pleasant bimble about the Highlands with G.C. and Stumpy yesterday, I left Fort William to ride the long way home to Fife. It was raining fairly heavily. On approaching a roundabout on the outskirts of Glencoe (about 20 miles into my journey), I dropped the bike down into 5th, then 4th....and she cut out on me. Engine just died and the ingitoion lights came on. I managed to free wheel into the side of the road and tried to start her but she wouldn't even turn over. ??? I went up the box then down the gears back into neutral, pressed the ignition and BINGO...she fired up and I rode home with no further problems!

I had bother a month ago which resulted in a new slave cylinder being required. Bike has been running fine since.

Anyone know what might have caused this yesterday? I dread to think of what might have happened if I'd been overtaking in the fast lane with someone hard up my tail and this had happened then...

Sidestand switch probably.

Cuts engine if in gear and stand down. Can't start either.

Suggest a session with WD40?

Good place to start looking anyway, perhaps the rain washed the rest away.
