So how do you explain the sales of hyper-sports bikes that are used on the road?
The bit about 'how' it gets there
Andres

Nah...the things are a proper pain to ride on the roads.....they don't "work" untill they're on song...at which point you run out of road/licence/life.....delete according to skill level...![]()
I still can't help feeling that BMW are taking the proverbial in recent years regarding build quality and prices, a properly developed bike should not be suffering the post launch problems that the LC models have had . Especially not a one from a so called PREMIUM brand at a PREMIUM price.
My new GSA is due next month but certain things about it make me think am I doing the right thing, for starters the switch gear in all honestly looks well below the standard of any higher specced Japanese bikes and I just hope the finish holds out.
I am paying a lot of money for a bike and having been at the Scottish show I saw a couple of dealers selling brand new pre registered Suzuki DLV 10000 V Stroms with full luggage etc for just over £8000, a hell of a lot of bike for the money and I know that the BMW isn't twice the bike .
I loved my r1150 gs and kept it for 9 years, my r1200gsa tc took a while to gel but I was always aware that the finish never seemed as robust and have always taken extra care to keep on top of it regarding cleaning etc but in certain areas of finish the new LC models just looks CHEAP

....
So.....are you saying all sports bike riders buy their bike because it has 170bhp as opposed the their mates that only have 165bhp?
Andres
2 new clutches , push rod , cylinder , seals , front wheel , fncking new engine , then another fncking clutch , 1000 more miles running in , another funkin tyre.................
BUT the best part is I LOVE MY NEW 1200 WATERCOLED BM ITS THE FOOKING BOLLOCKS AND WOULD NOT CHANGE A THING ,,,,, moderate that one xx ( nutty )
Go and stand next to e few "sports bike riders"....pick those with speed "humps" in their (shiney) leathers with (un-marked) knee sliders...at any "Biker meeting place" and eavesdrop on their conversation...I rest my case.![]()
....
Maybe I should get a Harley..........................

Age ? 'tis a wonderful thing......
Especially not a one from a so called PREMIUM brand at a PREMIUM price.

I came from a blackbird to a 1200TC and have rode a LC the blackbird would eat a 1200LC without going above 6k revs smooth as silk and would pull stronger than any GS in any gear hardly a pain to ride on the roads none of the GS range are fast unless you are coming from a FS1E yes they handle very well and pull well for a tractor but they are not fast
on the correct roads , a well ridden GS is very very fast.
This often gets quoted about BMW motorcycles but I personally don't agree with it. I see BMW simply as a brand selling at a particular price. The word premium tends to get used far too much IMHO once a customer thinks they either have something better than someone else or, they've bought something they're not happy with.
I went to the Pyrennese with a group , one had a zzr1400 another a blackbird , they were not capable of keeping up with the LC , the big cruisers were fine on the big roads for the high speeds but apart from that that , unless , strangely they now both own a gs now. It's not about the stellar speeds , the smooth box , the bubble fairings , it's about a bike that gives you soul , a purpose to ride , and above all the priceless smile it puts on your face. I know as the two riders I spoke of now understand and would never go back , and also ride better and faster now .
