I think my Hexhead had an Odyssey PC535 in it, but could be wrong, When that died, the cost of a replacement Odyssey was crazy so I did some research and went for a Motobatt of larger capacity, which served me well, its slightly taller than the OE battery but it fits. Cheapest PC535 I can find is £135, the Motobatt is £72.

Link below:

I did remove the front underseat metal bar and fit two small lugs instead that I made on the lathe at work, this was to avoid any risk of short-circuiting the battery terminals, a serious design flaw with the hexhead battery install IMO.

plus one for the motoblatt and the extra terminals make for adding accessories much easier. also seemed to have a lot more cranking power than the varta that was fitted before.

+ 1 for the Motobatt MBYZ16H The MBYZ16HD is the same battery The HD is for Harley Davidson colours ,Black and Orange.
Also +1 for the seat bar modification. I did it to make room for my accessory relays as well as to clear the battery terminals.

The Motobatt I had was crap, never turned the bike convincingly, had to charge it all the time even with the bike in a heated, carpeted garage done out in a nice shade of blue. My mechanic asked me why I bought it, even. Bought some cheapo Yuasa one off Ebay and it's loads better. I miss the extra terminals though, a nice touch.

Ive had all 3

Motobatt good & cheap to boot
Oddysey expensive and performed the same as the motobatt
Noco pricey but atm is perfoming about the same as the Oddysey & Motobatt

I've heard a couple of people complain about Motobatt, I guess like anything you get faulty products in amongst the good stuff.

I have used four Motobatt units on several bikes and have only had a positive experience from them. I rate them as highly as my previous Odyssey for performance but thankfully without the price tag. I also trust Tayna as a battery supplier, never having an issue with any of their stuff.

Another for Tanya and Motobatt. I don't use my bike as much these days so it's on a ctek charger which gets switched between 3 bikes randomly and it's never not started.

I agree.
I had an odyssey for 11years on my GSA. I replaced it with a motobatt 4 years ago and it has been perfect. The odyssey didn't fail. I just felt that after 11 years I may as well just change it.

I have motobatts in 2 of my TL's and my xl500r as well.

I will also add I never use an optimate or any trickle charger.

+1 for Motobatt

Another benefit is that they have 2 sets of terminals...

As you have a few wires connected, the 2nd set of terminals may help you tidy the wiring.

I pop mine on a C-TEK charger once a month, just overnight when not in use (I don't have any accessories - like a Tracker - to drain the battery)...

Edit - I see "turkuss" beat me to it with the benefit of extra terminals

The Noco lithiums have only one connector, but has three tapping points so you can connect to any one of the available threads

my odyssey died over night unable to start the bike, just like the original as it was coming up to 5 years old - that was 7 years back

I popped off the clip on cover to find 6 rubber bungs - and every cell was bone dry, where AMG batteries won't work - they like mildly moist glass matting - so across 48hrs, topped it up 3 times with distilled water, as it soaked in whilst charging off the bike - with most cells taking 140ml (incredible for such a baby battery) - its still in the bike today and starts the bike strongly

I was given a sad motobatt AMG and found under a very easy to crack off bonded lid it has the same 6 rubber bungs just like the odyssey, but I couldn't get it to come around...
My vx800 wiped out at new yuasa std battery in seconds - but its motobatt AMG holds a charge whilst sat unused, untouched and still connected for 18 months at a time
