How big a problem is scoring/wear of cylinder bores on the 1300 engine ?
I have heard of a couple of affected bikes locally .

I suppose you could take a plug out and insert one of those camera jobbies that attaches to your phone and have a look see, then of course freak out when it’s scored to fuck!!

No idea. Other than to say oil consumption on mine at 6k of hard use is not noticeable. Therefore assuming that if the bores were scored, then that would cause excess oil consumption…it must be ok then..
There will always be the odd engine though. From all manufacturers.
Not concerned.

all plated bore engines are a hideous risk - park up for the winter come back and there's a risk you need a new engine - and if you put oil in to reduce the risk, the CAT will complain and throw an engine light

don't forget why the put the ethanol in there - every little helps....

I popped into Halliwell Jones Chester a fortnight ago. A guy was taking a demonstrator 1300GS out for a test ride. Im not sure if it had been left on it’s side stand but when he started it there was a very noticeable blue plume of smoke from the exhaust. Can’t remember seeing another bike do that for a long time.
