Sorry, no doubt this has been asked a thousand times before. I am due for the 6k service on Friday, the tyres have a bit of life left but I thought might as well get them done at the same time. The price my local dealer quoted nearly gave me a fit.
What are the best tyres for occasional off-road but mainly motorway riding?
Anyone know of decent tyre shop in Camberly/Guildford area?
What sort of price should I pay fitted? :nenau

There used to be a very good tyre place nearly opposite Vines in Guildford. Anybody know if it is still there?

Just down the A303 near Andover is Micheldever Tyres which is the place I always use. Keen pricing and they know what they are doing.

I'm a bit out of touch with Tourance tyre prices (its 18 months since I had any fitted) but I guess around £185 a pair fitted.

As above - Tourances. I've got the superior :P but overweight  1150 Adv, and I get around 9-12k out of a set. Universal Tyres (in your phone book) supply and fit for around £200.

I use Dunlop D607s, just because that's what came with the bike and they work, so why change :)

Beware, if you get a rear tyre fitted by a non BMW place, they almost certainly won't have the correct equipment to balance it, and may end up scratching the paint on the wheel. I got a new rear put on by my local BMW dealer at the last service, they charged me pretty much the same price as I would have paid elsewhere, under 100 quid fitted.

I use these guys:

Guildford Tyre Co.Ltd
Motorcycle Fast Fit Centre, 97, New Rd, Chilworth, Guildford, Surrey GU4 8LP

and prefer D607's to Tourances, but then my off roading is the occasional dirt track, so you're probably better off with the Tourances.

what make of tyres do you have on the bike now and have you owned it since new
because my bike has tourances fitted and i have covered 10,000 miles since sept 04 and mine are hardly worn

They are the michelin ones that came with the new bike. I have had the bike 4 months now hence the 6K service, there is about 2mm of tread left on the rear, it has worn flat (due to motorway riding I suppose) which is effecting handling.
I have to say I expected about 9K but not way over 10K like yours cliff.

Think I might go for tourances, seems the consensus on here, phoned Guildford Tyre Co and got a good quote.
