I took the handguards of the 1100 a few weeks ago and on saturday morning a mate who was following me said the brake light kept coming on.

A. Has anyone else had this ( they all do that mister , put the guards back on;))

b. its not like its a race bike , you were only doing 80 on the dual carraigeway, it must be something else instead , probably the ........

c. drill some race type air slots in the brake lever , feck it up , then buy a replacement, and then put the guards back on

d. no my foot deffo was not on the pedal

e. try putting something in front of the lever , maybe a guard of some description

f. you really shouldnt be let near machinery

on a positive note @ the weekend i succesfully adjusted the clutch ( despite not having another joint in my arm ) and i found the breather box drain plug i have read about.

I had this problem, I had dropped the bike previously againt the house, only fell over by about 20 degrees the the handlebar stopped against the house, the force must have knocked or bend the light trigger inside the plastics.

I took it apart, and just bent the switches metal lever a TINY amount and its been PUUUURFECT ever since.

Of course it could be your rear brake thats setting it off, I would start with that as its a easier job.

You looking for if a tiny amount of pressure applies the light, there should be a small amount of play before the light activates but not whilst applying the brake pads to the disk. Hope that makes sense.

Ah , i did drop the bike through the shed door recently :augie

I took the microswitch off and put an ever so slight bend in it , exactly as you said and voila , now the lever comes back a little bit more before the switch opens up.

Thanks for taking the time to reply :thumb

If any one is interested ( i suspect not ) , or has a similar problem i will post some pics.
