Brand new Moto Guzzi v100s corrosion

That's disgraceful for a new bike mate, you've got my sympathy, have you decided what you really want ? i.e. your money back or a replacement ?

Hope it gets sorted quickly for ya.

I suppose it depends on how quick moto guzzi get involved and what actions the dealer takes, if it’s piss poor then I’ll walk otherwise I’ll listen to what they put on the table, this bike is deffo going back.

Im really surprised they even let it go out as they know im a bit ocd.

Youv'e every right to be aggrieved with that. If there's corrosion you can see you can expect it to be elsewhere you cant see.

I had a new gs1250 delivered one xmas and parked it up until spring only to find both front brakes had leaked. I went ape shit and told em i wanted my money back because of other problems i'd had on an earlier GSA, in the end i ended up getting a brand new spanking bike with a later registration and the additional tracker they were fitting on new ones.

It's obviously disappointing but fair play to you for noticing.
I'd never even think to look for stuff like that on a new bike. I'd just assume it was all as it should be, swing my leg over it and ride around like a giggling child.

Good luck finding the truth - I suspect it will be in short supply.

Being resolute about rejection is the only course, however disappointing - it's important never let yourself be sweet talked into any form of compromise or financial deal.

As a prospective Stelvio buyer, I shall certainly cross MSC off my list, even if their discounts look appealing. I reserve judgement on MG for now - let's see how they perform.

Having been there with a car purchase rejection a few years back, I can sympathise. Until settled, the whole saga tends to dominate one's life.

That’s just it, you shouldn’t have to go looking, you put faith and trust in the dealer, only to find there sneaky fookers whom try to pass there shite onto customers thinking they will never notice or when they do several months later it will a warranty claim.

That's fecking disgraceful, and hiope you get it rejected / replaced and a resolution to your satisfaction. My V100S from A&D in Denbigh was as you'd expect on delivery, spotless with no issues at all, and while it's only done 600 miles since collecting mid October, it's still mint.

That almost looks like it's been ridden a few thousand miles and clocked, or someone has replaced the engine with a battered one. Odd to me that the paint marks don't line up, both my V100, the V85 before it and my V7 are plastered in the yellow paint from the factory, and it all lines up. There is definitely something fishy going on here and on face value I'd be pointing at the dealer, someone, somewhere, knows something :)

The more I look at the pictures, the more I think that motor's been out, would also explain the radiator screws. I wonder, if I don my tinfoil hat, if another V100 needed some warranty work with a corroded motor, it happens, look at early 1200WC's (I had 3 engine replacements in total due to corrosion) and the little shits dropped the motor from Bike A, switched to bike B (Yours) thinking ....he''s never notice, or split the cases from a corroded bike on a warranty job?

Many would do the same, and it makes one wonder if the dealership factored in 'new owner' enthusiasm
hoping the bike would be taken out for a spin soon after delivery.
1. It was delivered during the hours of darkness which masked it's faults.
2. The dealership was closed the day after delivery. New owner would naturally go out for a spin the morning
after delivery.
3. Following on from point 2, if it had been ridden for a number of miles it then builds a case that
the customer has caused the damage/corrosion (greasy, salty roads etc.) by using the bike.

I hope I'm wrong about all the above and an honest mistake has been made by the dealer, but I can't help
being a bit suspicious re the timing of its delivery/condition of the bike. As already said on here, don't
move the bike an inch, make them collect it. I hope it all works out well.

I was thinking along those exact lines Fluff......and if it was the case, MG should immediately end their dealership

100%

OP I hope you quickly get a replacement, a good one, and you can start to properly enjoy the bike you were no doubt looking forward to riding.

Why they aren't all as bad as that. That would be like me saying I wouldn't have a modern BMW because of all the reliability issues and cosmetic faults...............oh hang on, I'll get my coat.:D

I had two engine replacements on a two different 1200LC GS'es Al, and on my RT LC, I had Engine, Cardon arm, rear wheel, disk, in fact almost a triggers broom, there's a thread on here about it, it was 6 months old from new and in a shocking state, and I am an anally retentive cleaner. There have been a few V100 issues with the engine casings, certainly no worse than the "Wankpanzers" (TM Arsey) :)

Poor Ding Dong is, I suspect, being taken for a mug by a dealer, and just from the threads I have seen on here, a mug he is not, and he knows his way around a bike.

Absolutely gutted for you, it takes the shine off any new bike. I've had a fair few new Guzzis and the only problem I've ever had was a duff clutch on a V85. Said bike was picked up promptly and given a new clutch, a loan bike was provided for the duration, which was 17 days. Having said that. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the paint was coming off the front cover of my V100. I was very disappointed to say the least. As I'm struggling to ride the V100 I've already agreed a P/ex value against the new Stelvio and advised they can take the bike now if they so wish.
Good luck with your future dealings with both Piaggio and the dealer. I'll be very interested to see how things pan out and hope things turn out OK for you.

Whilst the majority of Google Reviews for the Dealer in question are favourable there is a more worrying recent one about the use of non-OEM parts for a service and correspondence with Piaggio UK on the matter.

Certainly not a good situation to be in with the bike. Best wishes for getting it sorted to your satisfaction.

Does engine nr tally with that shown in the log book? Might be worth a look.

I’ve not got the v5 yet as it was only registered yesterday and the invoice doesn’t say what the engine number is.

MG should be able to tell you from the VIN nr what the original engine stamp should show. Possibly worth an email?

All looks a bit second hand to me.
All the best with the rejection process, I cannot see how they can argue, it is in a shocking state for "new".

I'd have thought the VIN would be the same as or similar to the engine number like it tends to be on most modern bikes

It's a bit odd that the invoice doesn't have the number on it ? :duno
