Build time....

Couple more bits done today. First I finished off the exhaust as the tail need to be welded on in the right position.

The old torsion bar for the final drive was 60mm too short. I cut the old one in half, drilled and threaded both ends so i could use a long threaded bar up the centre. I then made an aluminium sleve to go over the bar and tigged up both ends. Back on the milling machine I took it back to its original 20mm outer diameter.
Came out a treat 🙂

Wiring loom sorted out and re wrapped.

Well im pretty much there on the first phase. It's built up for Mot on Saturday. While I send all the paperwork off for registration( as its still on a German plate) I will strip it all back down and powder coat everything. Paint the tank, new plastics, swing arm and final drive.
New seat made up ( ignore the one that's on the bike) It's was a quick make up for Mot.

Absolute cracking build.(y)

Will look better when its all coloured :D

I suspect that the shape of the flyscreen will cause aerodynamic disturbance to your crash helmet. (ie. Will put your helmet in 'dirty' air).

Are you going to tell us your finished colour scheme or surprise us when it’s all done?

Rocky
This has been a joy to watch you doing fabulous work..
Bike looks great, and hope you have no problems with MoT or the registering with dvla.

Cannot wait to see the finished and painted bike.

I'd like to do it in the motorsport colours.
Had a bit of a play with some coloured tape but im not sure. Obviously tanks needs to be painted white first and then a black seat.
We shall see...

I'm not actually a big fan of lithium batteries. They are great when they work but when they don't they leave you in the shit big time. I have been on 3 big distance trips now where batteries have gone down, including myself in Morocco on my rally bike. One minute it started and the next it didn't. I'm happy enough with the extra couple of kilos 👍
Friend just finished the Sandraiders event…he had two lithium batteries blow up on him. Good quality ones too

It may be just the way it looks in the picture, but to me it looks a bit “ short “ wheelbase? :duno
Is it a normal length? I’m sure it is because you’ve just done the torsion bar.
It may be the exhaust making it look like the rear wheel is too close. :nenau

Anyway, the colour scheme is definitely the right way I think. :thumb2

It's actually 35mm shorter than my hp2 and 110mm longer than my 80 g/s.
Swingarm is 80mm longer than the standard bike and the Yokes are made with a 36mm offset.
Think its just the picture 😁

Yeah, I thought it must be the picture. :thumb2
You’ll have to excuse my ignorance but what does the VBT stand for? :nenau

So took it in today for its Mot. PASSED 😁 but picked up on slightly loose headstock bearings. No big deal as they will be renewed when I strip the bike back down.

Ralf had to have a little test ride just to check the brakes 🙄

He also said i needed a side stand, so I got onto that as soon as I got home and knocked up a stainless one.
Just need to fit the spring and a better bolt 🙂

Busy weekend in the Garage 🙂

Made up the seats and got them ready for the upholstery.
Made and extra little seat that will clip on at the rear for when the daughter comes on the bike.

couple of carbon parts made up. Exhaust heat shield and a curved plate for the tank so I can attach a bag.

Next up i primed and painted the tank and mudguards white.

Looks quite nice on the bike all white but I had a vision to do something different.
