Buying a GS

Went for a grey one (Boring I know) 2011, Dynamic and Premium packs

Not boring, I think it looks amazing. Saw the triple black GSA in the flesh last week and I don't like it. Love the triple black GS, but there's something that doesn't make the GSA look good. The Smoke grey is much better IMO, and my second favorite colour scheme after the original 2006 alpine white.

Can anyone tell me does the Adventure have a normal cigarette type lighter socket fitted, as after I collect the bike I have a fair way to travel to get home and I only have a (knackerd) car Sat Nav which needs to be plugged in to a power source to get me home, this maybe the first adventure

You are right it does look the dogs dangles. I just can't wait. I've started looking at all weather gear already, does anyone know of a good pair of gloves to recommend

No it's a smaller size one but you can buy a lead to convert to a car type - look here:

As for sat nav need, just look before you leave, sheet of A4 and some road names ....sorted

I managed to ride from Norfolk to my mums place near Glasgow avoiding M ways and the usual A1/A66/M74 route and only using smaller and back roads.........all on a single A4 sheet

Tis part of the fun so enjoy

As many have said , its what you want thats important. BUT, when it comes to features, i find the ESA a very good add on to have, I also like having the tyre pressure sensors.
After saying that, if you go for the dynamic and premium packages it will sell easier when you swap it next time.

BEWARE, DO NOY BUY A BMW TOPBOX. THEY ARE USELESS, YOU CANNOT EVEN GET A HELMET IN IT.

I think they look great in Grey, thats the colour I chose.

Re the BMW topbox, yes they are only 30something litres but mine will take one full face XXL Marushin helmet, but not 2 like the top box one my old bike!

If you do get the BM one, beware of the sharp screw head on the lock side. I scratched my lid on it. I have angled grinded it flat now, some members have lined the box to protect the contents.

I seriously hope you can get a lid in!!! I didnt try before buying, was told on here the arai x3 fits, so i assumed this is true and hoped too that my schuberth c3 will fit too

Anybody confirm or deny this for me??

Takes my shoei XR1100 with room to spare so
would imagine the c3 will fit ok.

Ive just bought my first GS 2007 model and having ridden sports bike for many years i got my first taste of heated grips. simply AMAZING. where have i been all this time? a definite extra. your next addition would be luggage. Thats why we buy these bikes, to travel...I only paid 6k for mine and i love it so with the money you have, there is a lot of bike on offer. spend a couple of K on equipment for touring and not just bike extras. Happy riding.

This reflects more or less what I experienced when I bought my 2005 GS. I have to say though they cast a lot more over here secondhand. I had to pay about 8200 euro ~ £7.5k but its low mileage 17k and came with a top box satnav and a full service history, and believe it or not that is not expensive, I have seen them asking a lot more! Anyway I think its the mutts!
