I am quoted Euro 175.00 for replacement cam chain tensioner, part only, not fitted.

The clattering noise from my bike is annoying when hot. I am using 15w40 oil.

Anyone like to advise course of action, apart from "earplugs" or "ipod" type of thing?

Thanks!

Should have said '02 R1150GS with 9,000 miles.

Bought it last year with 1,000 miles on it, had cobwebs and birdshit on it, perfect except for forkbrace....

Mine (1150, '00) clattered with 10W-40 when the oiltemp got to 6 bars. At least, when the revs dropped from normal driving to iddle.

Now with 20W-50 (that's what should be in these bikes) it's gone.

cam chain tensioners

had all three ( i'm told) bits replaced under warranty on a 2002 R1100s at 6,000 miles. I was told there was a "kit" fix. Still was unable to cure surging, although the bike ran great for a little while. Now trying to cure the surging with a y piece. Fingers crossed this will work
