I need some thoughts from the collective. Whilst my bike (05 GSA twin spark) basically runs well, there has been a niggle more recently. A mild/remote pulsing/surging. But it's been so mild i have wondered if it was in my head! I've just fitted some new plugs because the old ones were more worn than i realised, so hoping that helps matters. But thought i would check the valves and end float one more time. These are all generally pretty good. I haven't got around to checking the throttle bodies yet.

But watch the video (link below). When turning the engine over to check the valves, i noticed a noise. I think there's something not right with the upper cam chain tensioner blade... The LH side doesn't do the same and to be honest i would expect the chain to be under some degree of tension/support all the time. I've done some searching and fear the upper blade may be broken?

Need some thoughts! I really can afford the time to fix this. I leave for Italy mid-August! I fear i will be calling Steptoe very soon :( .

Or looking at this can i leave it until i get back and fix it then? Though normally i prefer to fix things as i find them...

Giving myself a bump.

No one got any ideas? I've done some searching but there's nothing on the particular detail i'm describing. I am beginning to think it's normal? :nenau

When i start the bike it all sounds nice and tight, no rattles just a purring motor and the exhaust note. I'm really not sure if I err....found nothing or something?

I'll be out on it tomorrow. Interested to see if the plug change is noticeable or not (TBH i'm not expecting much - even if the old plugs were shagged).
