Hi Guys,
An apology if this has been aired many times before. But, I am having a problem with the Canbus, my original Zumo 550 was powered by the headstock Canbus via a TT lockable mount & it worked fine. I had to have my original 550 replaced by Garmin because it would not power up at all. My refurbished 550 works fine on the car mount, and when it is connected via the USB to my PC, but when I put it on the TT bike mount it powers down. I have tried the following:
1. I fitted the 550 to the bike mount, turned the bike ignition on & the 550 powers up.
2. When I start the bike, almost immediately the canbus cuts the power to 550, the 550 either shuts down in 30 seconds or can be selected to run on battery power.
3. Alternatively, I start the 550 allow it to ‘stabilise’ (enter the code etc) then turn the bike ignition on, the 550’s display goes brighter (prolly due to canbus power), when I start the bike, almost immediately the 550 loses canbus power.
I don’t think this is anything to do with the 550, but it is a mystery why the canbus now rejects the 550. I checked the voltage and have approx 12V dc on both the bike and car mounts.
Has anyone had the same problem?

I don’t really want to hardwire the TT mount with inline fuse to the battery.
All help gratefully received.
Mark
