CAT yes or no ?

Im considering, when funds allow, fitting a set of Acrapovic Titanium headers. They are fitted with the flappy valve as standard and they can come with a CAT built in. Question is would it be best with or without CAT. ? What would you do ?

Are you sure the Ti Akra headers can come with a cat? Isn't that only the SS Akras?

When I bought mine I only had one option once I'd decided on Ti.

Del, if the TI headers come with cat and flappy valve, is there actually any point in fitting them? Seems like a barrow load of dosh for a tiny weight saving and improved appearance. Apologies if I've completely missed the point

You are correct Max, however its more about the bling factor. Thats the reason for asking the question. Would there be more to be gained fitting the non cat ones ? You dont get a choice about the flappy valve it comes as standard with all the headers be they SS or Ti.

Yep and did for my 1200. Ti headers with a cat is awful. Bit like the new Akra end cans where you can't remove the baffles. No sense at all.

Either you want loud/better breathing or you don't. Bling is a given so wouldn't factor that into anything. I bought mainly for bling and noise.

Yes you can get non cat,but not non flappy valve.

Fair response, I’ve managed to buy a Euro 3 Ti can from a member on here so I’m halfway there. Just trying to figure out if the gain/s are worth the investment in Ti headers.

Not sure if it's possible to justify with logic although warload did. I part justified mine as needing more sound for commuting in London as I want to be heard but the majority of the decision was based want "want bling".

The reason I bought my Titanium headers was to fix two known issues on my bike:-

1) The standard headers include a Catalyst which fails and overheats. Some riders get excessive heat buildup by their right leg, I started noticing it as well. So no Catalyst = No excessive heat.

2) The standard headers include a flapper valve, cables and servo motor. It can stick and becomes a maintenance / fail weak link. So no flapper valve = maintenance free.

Everything else is bling....

I'm glad I got the Titanium headers, they are very nice to look at, and fix two known problems. No squeak when I turn ignition on...

The end can I could definately take or leave it. That is purely bling....

Well, maybe Akrapovic have used a better engineering solution which is easier to maintain? Or just doesn't fail like the BMW does?

Might be a benefit in there somewhere?
