Hi All
Local garage (actually an independent car dealership, with a 'not bad' reputation) has a '99 1100 claimed to belong to one of the partners, for sale. 43K miles, some but not comprehensive history, reasonable spec (ABS, grips, panniers). Asking price is £3.4K.
The 'but' is that it is a Category C write off. Haven't forked out for an HPI search, but will if I decide to look into it further. It seems to have had about a year or so of use since being written off and repaired, but am unable to confirm that without a close look at all the documentation.
Seller breezily claimed that Cat C was 'cosmetic damage only', but actually it isn't. Can't remember the exact official wording, but it is along the lines of 'serious damage, but may be repaired and returned to use'
Is there a way to determine exactly what the damage was? Will an HPI check give any indication of this?
What would be your advice/experience/opinion on this bike. Inclination is to walk away, but the tight-git side of me whispers that there could be a bargain to be had.
