Anyone heard of a way to change the gear ratio to make for easier dirt riding? I don't really need 210kph top speed and find first gear too tall to get down and dirty.

It's all about............................timing

If you find out I'd love to know :)

I can think of two options - change the gearbox or change the final drive. I have no idea if compatible units exist that have lower ratios. I would expect the GS to be among the lower geared of BMW's range, so the parts from other 1200 engined bikes might not be any good. And this option would be expensive too.

Well having ridden a K1200R today I can safely say that its gearning is higher than the GS - it'll do 100 in 2nd! :D
That doesn't mean the gearing's higher though, does it....

The ST definately has taller gears (lower gear ratio if you need to be pedantic:D)

Looks like the HP has the same gear ratios, so no easy fix there. Did a quick google with no luck either. Looks like the clutch is gonna get a hammering.
