thinking of removing coloured tank panels (the only bits that are painted) to have them resprayed to liven the dull blue up is it a big job removing them and has anyone had experience of it. All info gratefully received thanks:aidan

The side panels are made of aluminium
Don't spraypaint them, it will wear of over time.
Anodize them innsted (It's cheaper than painting them)
When they make the chemical bath, they can choose allmost any coloure they like.

sorry i meant just the painted plastic parts and the beak any help. Thunder has inspired me!!!

Probably not your cup of tea colour wise but I`m a Kawasaki man through and throught.

It`s a 2007 Kawasaki Candy Lime Green metallic if you`re interested, not that you`re likely to be.

Removing the panels themselves is pretty straight forward, take off the side covers and aluminum panels first then the beak. With the beak once you have removed all the screws and unclipped the black trim for the cockpit it slides forward off frame mounted supports which you will see each side of the screen.

The tank panel is held on by the filler cap, remove the screws and lift the cap off, have a look at the positioning of the 3 rubbers under the cap and which way up they are for reference when refitting. :thumb

If anyone would like to post a picture or describe the original positioning of these rubbers, I have a friend who may be interested. Can you believe I… er, sorry… he didn't check when happily taking the panel off.

Too late to take a picture, but tell him that they engage in the 3 notches in the tank panel which correspond to the protuberance in the slot on each rubber and from memory the longest edge of each rubber is to the top.

Does that make any sense? :nenau

Chrsit, try translatign that into French....

I'm sure it'll make sense to him as soon as he looks at his bike in a bit. Where did I put my torx set....

The location of notches, slots and protuberances was fairly ok, from what i can remember, it was which way up it goes.

He's very grateful. :thumb
