I rode a V85TT when they first came out. I have always thought of it as a contender for a future bike. I visited A&D last summer and enquired but none of the discounted E5 were left and the part ex on the E5+ they offered was crap and RRP. Roll on 7 months and they advertised this Travel model at £1500 off list https://www.autotrader.co.uk/bike-details/202412237492596
Rode up this morning. Fortunately the person I dealt with last time was at the rugby and the chap I dealt with today offered me a grand more for my R1200RS2025-02-22 12.59.48.jpg than they did last summer! I was expecting it to drop £500.
I very quickly accepted the offer and paid a deposit.
The "unregistered demo bike" sounds unusual but it is definitely not registered as I had to choose a number for them to register it next month on a 25 plate. The tyres are new.
I suppose I will get used to owning a brown bike. Shame they don't have one of the prettier colours for the TT model.

I really like the look of these, just no space.

Excellent. A proper bike. Very enjoyable. Roll on spring and I might retrieve mine from the garage.

Was it Stewart you dealt with ?

Stew is a top bloke one of my oldest and closest mates, he will look after you

he can talk the hind legs off the proverbial donkey
But he is funny TBF, Nice bike I have put a lot of miles on the V85s, dont have the grunt of your RS but really suited to our welsh roads and there is just something about them

Wondering: how common is it these days that you can choose the reg number from a list when at the dealers when ordering a new bike?

The last new bike i bought i asked about this and they just said you get what your given..

it's all down to the dealer applying for an allocation of consecutive numbers

with online registration, some probably don't bother and just take a number the computer offers

Stew had a sheet of A5 with about 40 numbers to choose from, well the 10 or so left that had not been marked as taken already. Seems they have a lot of bikes rolling out of the door next month with 2025 reg. The advantage of selling mostly brands offering bikes at sensible prices.

I bought a new bike in December, the dealer gave me a list and asked me to choose… I looked for something that had relevance - but nothing there.

I think, my bike wasn`t registered until the day of collection, or was that VED...? They did something on `the system` on the day of collection.
Cant `remember, i suppose it must have been registered already as they gave me the reg number...

If you had a part ex they would have changed the details for that online and may have completed the transaction for the new bike at the same time. Or it may have just been an internal stock system. Then there is the finance system and compliance if using PCP/HP. That took an age when I bought the RS. Signing shit loads on a digital pad.

Last time I bought a used bike the whole transaction took about half an hour to part ex my Explorer for a S1000XR. I'd kicked the tyres in the morning and got a part ex price, went home and had lunch and a think. Went back, only 5 minutes away and shook hands. Half an hour later I was riding away on the XR. I arranged the insurance whilst the chap did the DVLA stuff online. I'm hoping for a quick handover next month as I am paying cash plus the part ex.

I was there this morning and saw Stew in the Guzzi section with a customer, it could well have been you Wessie, I was down on the Tuareg for a brew and booking the Mandello in for a service.

Enjoy the V85👍👍

All the bikes I’ve had from A&D and they’ve always sent me a list of registrations to choose from.

fixed it for you. :ROFLMAO:
Feck me, do you have a needle and thread, I think I may have split my sides, if you must know he has spent the last 20 years overseeing quality control on the A380 wings, this is a retirement side gig for him. He is a decent an honest guy, so dont quite get where you are coming from unless its the Pernod again
