Nothing about mine yet. But please, those that have them, a mini review or unboxing would be fab. Oh and any initial thoughts.
Too late for any of that as I’ve already removed my AIO-5 lite and fit the 6 with the BMW mount and cameras.
Screen is nice and bright. Cameras say they’re higher quality, but I’ve not ridden to see if the 60fps is noticeable. The bigger size is noticeable, but not a huge difference. I may notice it more when riding.
I got a free bumper/corner guard and glass screen protector. There’s no memory card though, unlike the AIO-5 lite.
Fitting was easy as I knew where all the wires were. I didn’t have to replace the power cable that the 5 was using (I don’t use parking mode so have it running off the EZ-CAN)
Activation was easy, along with firmware update. I did it in the house using a USB-C cable. Note that you must use an A to C cable, a C to C will not work. You also have to use the USB slot next to the memory card. It’s all documented on the Chigee site, but most people probably won’t check.
I was using the AIO-5 lite with CGRC-LIN in place of the BMW cradle. I now have the BMW cradle back on and using the 6 with the BMW mount. Everything works the same.
One thing I don’t like is the quick disconnect cable for the BMW mount with cameras. I know why it’s needed, but there isn’t a way to hide it really well. I also feel the quick connector is in the wrong place - but maybe that’s because on other bikes they need a bit more length. Hiding the excess cable under the radar housing on the R1300 was fun!
Start to finish took just under 2 hours. I have hidden all the cabling though. The front camera is mounted in the grill, and the rear is above the indicator using a mount that I designed for the 5 that my mate 3D printed for me. I ran the cable from under the pillion seat, through the mud guard where the rear radar and indicator wires run, out a tiny hole in the back of where the number plate is - the hole is exactly the right size to push the camera connector through. I’m glad the camera connector is no bigger than the one on the 5!
