Chigee AIO 6

Just had notification of shipping for VIP club members. Mid June for Super Early Bird.

This is what was said:

VIP Club Shipping Has Started

We’ve officially begun fulfilling VIP Club orders and are handing over packages to the shipping carrier in order of pledge sequence.
We’re currently waiting for tracking numbers to be returned from the carrier. Once available, you’ll receive an email from [email protected] with your tracking info. Thank you for your patience — your AIO-6 is on the way soon!

Shipping Timeline Reminder

For backers in the following tiers, here’s the current estimated schedule:

  • Super Early Bird: Mid to late June
  • Early Bird: July
Due to the large number of Super Early Bird and Early Bird backers, we’ll be fulfilling orders based on pledge order. Shipping will take place over a staggered time window, not all at once. We’re still waiting on final confirmation for the next production batch and will share a more detailed timeline as soon as possible.

I provided my details as an ‘early’ but added to be delivered after 30/06/25 because we were away. We’ve had to cancel our holiday now so wish I’d never put that.
I read that as you'd cancelled your holiday to wait for the Chigee. I thought, "You're keen" 🤣🤣

Mine's on the way but opted for standard delivery to avoid customs :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Coming by DPD.

Nothing about mine yet. But please, those that have them, a mini review or unboxing would be fab. Oh and any initial thoughts.

It may not be DPD. Mine said DPD in the shipping confirmation, but it was DHL. I chose express mind, although still didn’t get customs charges.

We'll soon find out :). I'm in no real rush as I already have the AIO 5 lite. I'll need to put the Nav prep back on first.

Too late for any of that as I’ve already removed my AIO-5 lite and fit the 6 with the BMW mount and cameras.

Screen is nice and bright. Cameras say they’re higher quality, but I’ve not ridden to see if the 60fps is noticeable. The bigger size is noticeable, but not a huge difference. I may notice it more when riding.

I got a free bumper/corner guard and glass screen protector. There’s no memory card though, unlike the AIO-5 lite.

Fitting was easy as I knew where all the wires were. I didn’t have to replace the power cable that the 5 was using (I don’t use parking mode so have it running off the EZ-CAN)

Activation was easy, along with firmware update. I did it in the house using a USB-C cable. Note that you must use an A to C cable, a C to C will not work. You also have to use the USB slot next to the memory card. It’s all documented on the Chigee site, but most people probably won’t check.

I was using the AIO-5 lite with CGRC-LIN in place of the BMW cradle. I now have the BMW cradle back on and using the 6 with the BMW mount. Everything works the same.

One thing I don’t like is the quick disconnect cable for the BMW mount with cameras. I know why it’s needed, but there isn’t a way to hide it really well. I also feel the quick connector is in the wrong place - but maybe that’s because on other bikes they need a bit more length. Hiding the excess cable under the radar housing on the R1300 was fun!

Start to finish took just under 2 hours. I have hidden all the cabling though. The front camera is mounted in the grill, and the rear is above the indicator using a mount that I designed for the 5 that my mate 3D printed for me. I ran the cable from under the pillion seat, through the mud guard where the rear radar and indicator wires run, out a tiny hole in the back of where the number plate is - the hole is exactly the right size to push the camera connector through. I’m glad the camera connector is no bigger than the one on the 5!

We head to Portugal next week, so wanted it before then. Unfortunately my wife’s hasn’t shipped yet, so she’ll be stuck using her AIO-5 Play BMW.

That's a bit unfortunate, but not too bad, the AIO 5 is a useful bit of kit.

Absolutely. It’s a cracking bit of kit. The 5 is more than enough for most, especially if your nav app of choice allows customising text size and road colours etc. (I use Scenic, which allows customising the size and colour of all map elements)

I was really torn with getting the upgrade or not, but figured for the price I paid it was worth it. I got the 5 lite in February last year and paid peanuts compared to what people are asking for them now.

Mine didn't come with an SD card which was slightly disappointing as you can't update the firmware/software without it.
I'll pick one up tomorrow and have a bash then

Please can those who have their 6's post a picture of them on the bike with some routing of the cables shown please :D

quite oldly Insta360 sent me a 256GB microSD for free, for engaging with them online. If you have an Insta360 give it a go, can't hurt

Couple of things I’ve noticed in the few months I’ve had mine, one of which I noticed yesterday.

1. If you use a big SD card it’ll be formatted by the unit as FAT32 but if you ever take the card out it will not read on a Mac or iPhone/iPad but it will on a Windows machine. Not the end of the world.
2. Out of the box the AIO-6 isn’t set to use 60fps for the cameras it’s set to 30fps. It’s done like this by design to reduce battery consumption presumably when it’s got a permanent live feed and in parking mode etc.
