How much adjustment shpuld the clutch lever on the back of the gear box
have? :nenau

Whatever it says in the manual/handbook - can't remember off my head.

but so long as you have some play in the arm ( at the rear of the box) it shouldn't cause any clutch slip.

Not 100% sure but I adjusted the rear to the point that I could replace the clutch cable and then adjusted the front for bitting point worked a treat

I think

the good book says adjust the lever end so there is 10mm between the knurled lock-nut and the end of the threaded part then about 5mm freeplay at the gearbox arm. Does that make sense? Probably not, if you're stuck let me know and I'll dig out the manual. Basically I believe you are you looking for about 5-7mm of slack when you pull the lever in before there is any effect on the cable as seen between the lever and stock.

It makes sense to me but then I've been out on the hit and miss all night.

The knurled adjuster should be set to 12mm and free play at the clutch lever should be 7mm.

Originally the spec called for 10mm/5mm but this was revised to 12/7.

I've never actually adjusted at the handle bar, I've always left the knurled adjuster at 12 and have set the lever free play to 7 at the gearbox lever. That's prolly the hard way of doing it though.
