Question.

Can I bring the bike to TDC using the shaft alone? I kinda know the answer - no! I need the rear wheel on to get the torque to move the pistons right? As in 6th gear? Could I advance it using the alternator bolt under the front cover? I seem to remember doing that on my 1150. Be a much better use of my time tomorrow if I could get the valves checked etc? Thankyou.

Little bollox! . I can use the slide hammer to take out the bearings tomorrow.

Take the plastic cover off the front of the engine, then use the nut on the crankshaft pulley to turn the engine.

Good man thanks. I was hoping it was still the same. I’ve made myself a tool to put in the back of the right cylinder head to hold it in the right spot. If the valves are in spec I’m not touching them.

Hi,

I'm ndertaking a big refurb of my 110,000 mile 2007 R1200 GS.

I've been lucky enough to receive a yellow GS911. I just have a couple of questions if anyone might entertain me?

I'm going to meet a guy in the morning to buy an old windows XP laptop with dreadful battery life but according to him works fine. I expect this will be sufficient to run the software?

I've downloaded the legacy GS-911 downloader.

So, do I need to connect the laptop to the internet?
If the unit was registered to a previous owner (it was / is ) do I have to get it deregistered?
Once everything...

Rearding the brake disk bobbins. Looking at the two that are 'welded in', is it just that one of the tiny thin washers has slipped?

Can anyone take pity on me and let me know what these washers are so I can buy some new ones? The rest seems ok. An hour of tlc will have them looking much better and ready to go again but I was reading that these bolts expand or something and need to be replaced? I've heard reports of some reusing them?

Anyway I can't find reference to the washers on the max Bmw parts fiche and I think I'm tired now but would like to add them to the list of bits I'll get off the Bmw parts department. Thanks.
