Corrosion at 600 mile - WTF?

I have a similar problem on my 09 GSA.

Dont wuite know why I did it but I got out a magnet and tested it on the crash bars.

And guess what NOT magnetic!

I reckon they are electro polished (cheap) stainless steel.

A quick wipe over with wd 40 removes the surface corosion.

The bike is now bathed in ACF50 so who knows what is going on, spring will tell.

Overwhelmed with feedback

Ta guys, lots and lots of things to think about thanks to the overwhelming response ta very much.

My local dealer is BMW laceby and I have already mailed them to arrange a visit re replacing the bars which I think should and will happen.

I`ll also check my stand cross bar thanks for that.

Looks like their quality control isn`t as good as what we would hope however I will now place my trust in the `system` and a good dealer to get it sorted out!

And no, I can`t make crash bars and an extended cruddy would just look silly

Update

Went to my local dealer (Laceby) and they have submitted a `puma` report re the warrantly claim.

It`s painfully obvious to me but lets hope that BMW think so also!
