Was that the one you did the beach race on?

FFS Dave, it was only the once and the water was only a foot deep!!
Seems that there are a lot of issues with the WC GS about corrosion , is this the same for the WC GSA or have BMW sorted things out for this model .

Given I only rode it in the dry and washed it once with Johnson's No Tears baby shampoo, it is highly unlikely to be caused by caustic washing compounds -![]()
Oh dear ....... Their answer to this will be and I quote "the price you paid for the bike reflected the overall condition on the day you purchased it"
They've got you by the bollocks. Probably best that you hope they don't squeeze them too hard![]()

That's two different things ......... one is corrosion and the other is mechanical. Both are covered under the manufacturers warranty and as you brought the subject up the corrosion warranty (on a car) is for perforation. In other words the body has to perforate from the inside out and they just don't do that nowadays.
Your corrosion is external. Just like if you were complaining to a dealer about corrosion on car bonnet caused by a stone chip. In the car world they just will not cover that kind of claim
You haven't bought a brand new vehicle but you did buy it knowing that it had faults. These faults may have been caused by the previous keeper? These fault may be a manufacturing defect that the manufacturer might deem as being unacceptable in a nearly new product? However, they may also quote "the price you paid reflected the condition at the time of purchase and that you knowingly accepted the vehicle with these faults"
I hope your dealer stands by you and fights your corner which is what they should do![]()
OK so two different things in theory, however just because I bought it second hand should the warranty not stand ??
As one can see from other posts on here I'm not the only one thats having this problem am I ?
Others have had success with warranty claims why shouldn't I ?
Don't get me wrong, the bubbling isn't terrible by any means but its not going to get better as time marches on,if its like it is after 4000 miles whats it going to be like after 8,000 or 12,000 !!
I've owned two 1200 GSA's,the first a 2009 which I chopped in for a new 2011 model, both had done over 25,000 miles and neither had corrosion, believe it or not, even on the front of the engine where a lot seem to suffer.
I love the bike and am not after owt for nowt,as they say up north, just a fair deal.
Anyway, this is all conjecture at the moment,we'll wait and see what happens before I get upset about it !![]()

I'm so glad you started another thread to tell us.........
