Whent to look at wc it did look good but then asked the price.
A new gsa is £14.400 the lc te is £13.800. So my 2011 gsa with all luggage left
on.the offer was £8500 bike has only done 6800 miles and like new .
so that would cost me £5900 for just under two years. so iam out.

Speak to Tony at Coopers BMW in Tunbridge Wells, he gave me a good deal on my 2010 gsa.

These threads come up fairly regularly. Without jumping to the defence of the dealer let me explain.

He's offering you £8500. He will want to retail that for £10k

So in his showroom he has a 2 year old GSA which is soon to be the 'old' model at £10k sitting next to brand spanking new shiny 'new' models at £13k

£3k get's you a bike that is not only 2 years newer (Brand spanking new in fact) but it's the 'new' model.

If your bike was any more expensive then they'd never sell as the gap between new and used (and now new and old model) would be so close that everyone would just stretch a 'little' extra for the new one.

Hopefully this brings a little perspective .... :thumb2

Just a flaw, a 2011 12GSA is no different to a 2013 12GSA, apart from colour:blast

I reckon he will stick it up for £11k and pocket £2500 (Less costs - warranty and/or service/tyres if needed) to cover a bleak winter

You're missing the point .... if the OP's trading in for another GSA then the numbers still stack, of he's trading for the new LC then the numbers still stack .....

Sell the old bike privately.

Why give the dealer a turn on the new bike and the old bike?

£5900 to swap on a 2011 6000 mile GSA, with panniers... is a bit rich though Steve:D

That's a kick in the stones, the dealer is trying it on...........

So what, just roll over?

I don't know what options the OP has tried, but I would try;
Phoning another dealer for a px price or consider selling privately, the OP doesnt mention if he will want luggage on the LC he's considering, if the part ex goes in with luggage then the new bike should be delivered with luggage, start haggling it's a buyers market.
Remove any bling and sell separately including luggage subject to the above.

You can't argue with that logic, exactly what I would do

Incidentally, I paid £6000 to swap cars last year from a 2010 to a 2012

Same cars/same spec exactly and they threw in a £500 genuine towbar too (making it £5500 in reality then)

My p/x had done 40,000 miles in 2 years - so a damn sight more wear and tear, than a 6800 mile summer ridden GSA

Some leg-lifters out there in the motorcycle world:eek:

Sell it privately. Stick it on here for a start.
I would have had it off you if I hadnt found a nice one closer to home last month.

Im going to say, that the deal is not that bad.

The LC is a new model thats wanted. For good or bad, the old model will not be as favored, Some are calling it Vintage already. Dealers will sell his at £9500, Dont forget the new buyer will haggle.

So if you want the new LC, your going to have to accept the hit. :blast

Also, you need to account for VAT. Your original bike was £14400 that Equals £2400 vat, Unless your vat registered thats dead money, the second you sign the paperwork.

Wait until the excitement of the new WC has tailed off - it will be far easier to get a good deal then ;)

In the mean time the value of your GSA is hardly going to plumet :thumb

Breaking news: motorcycling not a cheap hobby!

Try classics ;)

dead right - add that to a popular bike giving lots of SH choice (priv and dealer) and the occasional finance deals on new and I dont think its too bad either, for once I dont think BMW are any worse on this bike that a Jap dealer would be on one of theirs
