Anyone tried to fit one of these from www.bmwbikebits.co.uk ?
( posted this ? on GS aswell - seems not). The thread size is either 16 or 18mm , yet the cruise control is 12mm and the fitting instructions don't match up at all for the GSA. Can anyone shed light on this? Looks like a mistake to me. Either they supplied me for a GS or maybe something else !

That looks exactly like the Wunderlich unit I fitted to my 1200GS. It was a straight swap for the standard bar-end weight, although I can't remember what the thread size was...

I'm guessing the bars are a different size on the GSA and you've been sold the part for the standard GS? :nenau

If it's any help I could take it off and check the thread size...

Just fitted a Kaoko cruise control to my 12gsa which I had taken off the standard 12 that I sold. No problems, but I'll go and double check everything tomorrow.

Unless they've changed them again......

The 05 and 06 bikes have different bar ends. All 06 bikes have the same bar ends. Looks like you might have got the older version.

cruise control

Thanks MikeR and Wizard.
I am planning on taking them back to BMWBikebits today ( wind and all ) and see what gives. I have told Leon it doesn't fit, so he knows about it. I'll update this thread once I know what gives for the benefit of others. cheers

problem solved !

cheers guys. What the problem is that ....there are 2 sizes inside the throttle ! No wonder ! and so typical of BM. There is a large "nipple" ( I can guess the comments this could generate ! ) - ie. this is a metal tube or hollow pipe with threads on both the inside and outside, which is inside the throttle ! SO , when I unscrewd the bar end, the whole lot came out. So, the mystery is solved, although, how on earth one is supposed to hold the threaded section tight in a vice grip or bench vice without damaging the thread and then uncrew the inside bar end, still remains a mystery. Pics to follow
