On a bike... somewhere!
I just noticed today that my f800gs gearbox has taken on a crunchy feel :blast

Down form 2nd to 1st is gone very harsh and on the up chance I seem to be hitting neutral regularly. A few time I noticed that the gear lever seem to be very stiff to move.

Haven't changed anything and same old boots as always.

Any thoughts welcome

My guess would be chain tension is a bit slack and possibly wants an oil and filter change

Check the tightness of the gear change lever to the splines .... if loose create all kinda problems!

Check chain tension ... if incorrect creates all kinda problems!

Check clutch free play at the lever ... if incorrect creates all kinda problems!

Oh ... you're using your normal boots :thumb

What year and what mileage Tearaway?

Thanks for the thoughts gents :thumb

It's 2011 bike with 15k on the clock. Old and filter done recently!

Same old boots, checked the clutch lever and it's out to max so there's good distance of travel on the lever with a touch of slack on the end so there's no drag.

Gear changer is solid too!

Will check the tension tomorrow :thumb

If its been dropped hard on the left side at all might be a possibility of a bent selector shaft. Or possibly just a faulty one, mine cracked where the fork part meets the shaft which left me stuck in 6th at some traffic lights.
Can't remember if its was crunchy as such when it started going but i do remember I had a phase of getting neutral instead of 2nd.
Think the new part was in the £70 region plus a new gasket. Easy enough to change if you're competent mechanically
