All suited and booted....

turn key. DEAD

cant understand as bike was (and always is when not in use) connected to optimate. 2004 bike
Optimate now does not even recognise battery when I connect it

This is the first time the bike has been used since returning from Dealer to have software update.

Dont know what to do. Any ideas.?

Also, battery appears dead when testing with voltemeter

Emm call the dealer ? :nenau

Update.

contacted dealer, want bike returned to them somehow. I will have to find a way to get the bike there

they said they will need to replace the battery (around £90  ) and hopefully try to find out what the problem is. they dont believe the software update would have caused it.

Now in a dimema, do I just replace the batery myself with a better/cheaper one, or take time of work, use AA to take bike in and pay for standard fitment battery.

Bike no longer under warenty so can't imagine I will get any help with replacement and labour charges.

If the Optimate doesn't like the battery, it's fecked and you'll need a new one regardless what the original problem was. So, take out the old one, buy a new one & fit it yourself. Then, if you're worried, ride the bike to the dealer.

Try disconnecting the battery from the bike then connecting the optimate, it has a deep charge to recover very discharged batteries, but wont do this if the battery is connected to other electrics (for obvious reasons), could try Thunder Road as they seem to carry a lot of batteries and are not too expensive.
