Desert X

Guess we all have our preferences ;)

Got a spare set of TA3's I was going to put on the 1290 which will go on the DDX at some point and so will see how they compare on this bike.
You’ve DM Paul.

I’d recommend thinking about a set of engine bars & barkbusters hand guards (or similar) as that tank is vulnerable to damage in a tip over. I fitted crosspro alloy engine bars to my std DDX though as these change the central engine mount bolt you’d have to check if they fit with the Rallye sump guard.

Finally got around to fitting some crash bars - went for Wunderlich as they do 2 versions one of which fits the larger carbon sump guard on the Rally and look a bit more discrete compared to some plus a small Aliexpress cover for the water pump.

Close up of the protector - definitely an Evotech knockoff and just clears the crash protectors connecting bar:

I like the look of the screen, is it the tallest of them or the next one down?

I'm on my 2nd after market one, plus a deflector that Tetley had going spare. It just looks a bit shit, so if these Unit ones do the job, I could be tempted.
It’s the taller of the two - but then I’m 6’3”! It works great - I think the Double take mirrors help too.

Many thanks Paul - I’ll have a browse on Ali express …

Know what you mean - started off with the Puig which works well with my old MRA X-creen helped by having double take mirrors and Barkbusters with Storm plastics but not the best looking.

Now playing with a WRS short Enduro screen still with the spoiler and working well. Trying to decide which to take to France at the end of the month. Need to do some motorway miles with the WRS to decide.

How are you getting on with the Unit Garage screen and your other options Paul?

I am still trying to find a solution to the buffeting I get and have tried the Puig touring and various add on spoilers to no great effect.

Both the Puig and short WRS work well for me but biggest difference for me was swapping helmet for an Airoh Commander 2.

I like that! Wish they wouldn't have angled the silencer up where the right pannier goes. 28,000 mile valve check interval is nice.

Supposed to arrive here in June, I doubt the rednecks will show it much interest though. I'm glad there's not a dealer nearby because it or a Multistrada would be tempting....

Bit disappointed tbh it lacks the rugged charm of the original
My first thought was Africa Twin
