Desert X

Looks too uncomfortable. No place to carry my stuff, doesn't even have a luggage rack.

If this new DDX has the same heavy clutch , as the V2, and as the pre production DDX model had , at the NEC , then it will be a disappointment. I hate heavy clutches.

Looks a cracker though . Much better engine , no expensive servicing , no tank removal for air filter change , nicer TFT allowing bar mount for twat bag/ CarPlay unit etc ….

BUT ….add a few basics and it’s over £18k. I think for that I’d rather the KTM1390 S with AMT.

I wonder if BMW and Ducati will ever realign their prices like the Japanese have done ? Unlikely as they’re too arrogant and ‘premium’ , Ducati in finish and BMW in price 😜

The original engine was a cracker, same as used in supersport. Perfect blend of useable power and grunt. Desmo service intervals and belt changes at reasonable intervals. One of the most reliable too from Ducati as it was in production a long time.

Is it essentially a more off road focused Multistrada?

A more off-road focussed lightweight multistrada which does road well too. Multi isn't really as off road focussed a bike.

OK I haven't really studies the specs. I can see the longer travel off road suspension and 21/18 wheels being better off road but is it really that much lighter?
But it is still superb on the road
Were you to buy one Mike, Desert X or Multistrada, which would it be?

Hahaha I have just bought one of those 2 bikes,
I will have a video reveal next week - suffice to say I love both

Congratulations, looking forward to your review. Last I saw you were looking for an RS. I've not ridden either Ducati but both are beautiful and look like wonderful motorcycles.

I love my Desert X but don’t see enough to change to the 2026 model. What I really with the current bike like is, despite having excellent adventure credentials, is it can turn into giving me sports bike thrills when you chase the revs through the gears. Even with the 21” front it handles superbly on the road. If the new bike had been a bit lighter I might have considered it but I’ll wait and see what the new Rally brings

I guess there’s not much difference apart from the engine , frame , suspension and wheels 😜

Oh and the screen , fairing , lights …….

Yes loads of detail changes but would have to test ride to see if they are real improvements. With a new frame and a lighter engine why is it only 1KG lighter. Could be just change to get away from Desmo production which will be cheaper to produce and maintain, but is it better?

Desert X (22-25 model) is 202Kg dry weight compared with 207Kg for Multi (S), so a little lighter. 2026 Desert X is 209KG dry (fluids but no fuel)
