done it project varadero o2 reg v 06 gs .. dont laugh

HTML:
Varaderos have some of the best headlights fitted to a bike, GS's don't.

Bet they ain't as good as mine...:thumb

HTML:
I'm sure you'll know a lot more about poor finish now you own a Suzuki

My old Gixxer had done 37k when I got shot of it, the condition was no worse than my previous 1 year old, 17k 1150 adv. Work that one out!

Oh yeah, the Gixxer never went wrong in over the 3 years either! The beemer had 2 gear boxes and ate front brake discs like feck!

It's wrong to tar all bikes with the same brush, there are great and shite bikes with all manufacturers...:thumb

There are to many factors involved, to determine how well a bike fairs with regard to it's ability to remain in 'good nik'

I've got a 05 Vara now and the lights are way better than stock GS.

Im probably getting a 12GSA around Sep time, hopefully by then there will be a BTBR & Migsel setup available as I dont think the standard lights and fogs (are they fogs or head lights?) are up to the job of country lane riding at night. The Vara is just about ok, but having had BTBR's lights on my old 1150 I am fully appreciative of just how much difference they will make.

Save ya money mate and just convert to HID instead of making your bike look like something from 'close encounters of the third kind'. You know it makes sense...:thumb

:blast There's always someone who wants to be an exception to every rule.
I think I said that BMW finish ain't great:rolleyes: And I'm sure if you did tar a Suzuki with a brush it would improve it's ability to shrug off the rain and salt:thumb2

Bollox, I'm not being 'an exception to every rule', I'm just giving you the facts based upon my experience!

In this instance, I never found this to be the case...;)

Obviously the use of smilies (which you left out when you quoted me) passed you by. There are good and bad bikes in every manufactures line up as far as finish goes. GSXR1000's are good and VStrom 650's are bad IMHO, although that could be as much down to their use as more people buy Vstroms to commute on IMHO. I accept that I was jumping on the stereotype bandwaggon and appologise to you unreservedly for any suffering I may have caused to you, your family, your pets or your friend.

Typical Southerner...:P

I had also looked at the Vardero as a possible purchase; not as a GS replacement or GS challenge. I sold my GS a year ago and bought a far uglier bike - ST:) .
The comments regarding ugliness are a laugh aren't they just? So the GS is #1 in the beauty stakes then?
That apart, I reckon the Honda is a good purchase and lets face it variety is the spice of life. I wish you luck and will watch for updates with anticipation.
My only gripe? Please learn English minkhead, use capitals and punctuation:rob ?

Hi Minkyhead

just wondering how your are getting on with your Varadero, you still got it how many miles are on it now, has your opinion of them changed??

:D

:D

5800 miles no problems so far ive been useing it as a working bike
[instructor ] ...upgraded the springs hypro 150quid a lot better in tighter corners ..not gs good but fun in a big sort of way
oh i fitted a scratched top box from a binned er6 for 12 quid

tall day comfort is superb and dare i say long runs are a pleasure a tourer this deffenantly is
running costs ... nil other than oil ect big service due 8000 biggest job carb balencing ...if needed its a nice bike
ive turned away from designer twee only ever been there once
and am firmly in the function over form department from now on

i like the fact i can work on it service it put heated grips on with a scotch block and earth ..add radio equipment without all the fuss
the engine is a cracker and by big trailie standards aint slow
to prove im completly cracked i bought a v strom with the change
fully loaded grips lluggage ect ... 900 miles 9 months old
im enjoying the strom as well
both the v twins are better engines no question about it
that strom has a rough bark it aint anywhere near slow and holds any given gear longer [its me favorite out of the three ]
i always found the 1200 a pain two up in 6th.... not enough go
out of the three engines ill give it the strom a little less low down but very entertaining nearer the top end strong in the gears barks and vibrates a little when loaded [attitude ] except 6th ..overdrive ... but it cruises stress free at a ton at 4800 revs [nice ]

all in all its been a good move albeit forced ive got to say that i trust honda suzuki ...
anyway there it is different folks different strokes if you can get on /over the looks of them there a absalute bargain
to get on and ride and tour there nothing in any of them they all do the job very very well gs vara strom capo ect ect
do i care the gs is a bit more nimble or the ktm is faster or the new bennelli is cool ...not one jot
if iwanted handling and performance in spades were in the wrong department
ive even wired in a animal horn so it can snort like a pig bark like a dog ...appropriate i know but its fun .....anyway any jibes are ok ...
laugh at me ill laugh with you ...just dont care ...really [thus the pig horn]reminds me not to stray from the the path of funtion and fun...
these are the ultamate antidote to all designer trinkets electronic trickery and bullshit ...
[middle aged baldy men in expesive open top sports cars ...strewth ]:cool
