Dropped it again!

I think that if you have an issue with pulling the bike onto the stand it may do you a favour , as some struggle , with it so its worth a try , if not sell it on , nothing lost really .:thumb2

Pull the bike onto the stand? I just stand up on the stand's 'foot' and up it goes. Easy-peasy - until your foot slips off half way up.

Most mistakes (some time me as well) is not getting both centre stand legs on the ground before you kick down on the centre stand bar.

The bike came with it and I used it maybe 5 times - didn't work for me, but then I've never had an issue with my RT or GS.

Sold it to sutcliffe995 who found it equally useful :hide

Must admit , never used it when i went to the shops but after a 300 mile Swiss mountain ride ... shit i was soooo glad it was there i was fooked ....and the next day and the next ...

I think the unlevel floor is unhelpful, but your technique looks suspect too. Why not ask someone at your local Motorad dealer to give you some tips, especially as you have form.

Thank goodness it fell away from you.

Yes, technique was bad. I should have stopped when I realised my foot was slippery.
I always put the side stand down so it shouldn't ever fall on top of me... probably!

For a considerable sum of monies, I can train you to deal appropriately with any signs of embarrassment or trauma.

Alternatively, congratulations on having the honesty to publicly admit to your error.

Not that anyone else has ever done such a henious crime.

That's too painful to watch, once did when putting mine on the sidestand, which I thought was fully locked down, never moved so quickly.

There is an a you tube video somewhere, showing how to make a turn table. I made one using the video as guidance, it works a treat. I’m sure there was a link on here, but I cannot find it. Total cost about £20 odd, You could ride into your garage , put it on the turntable, turn it around when you want to go out and ride it out. Tools needed , a drill and a screwdriver and 30 minuets of your time.

Ah, a turntable. A member here tore a calf muscle badly putting his GS on its stand on a turntable. Apparently it made a noise like a gunshot when it when it went.

Just in case you should mount one of these on the all :D

I pulled up on the drive once on my VFR and I don't know whether I missed the sidestand or completely forgot to put it down but I soon found myself rolling around on the lawn! One of those get up and a quick 360 scan.... "did anyone actually see that" LOL!

Just a thought, if the garage is sloping away from you, why not get a heavy duty non slip piece of rubber rubber mat to put on the right side of the bike, that way when you put the center stand down, the bike cannot fall away, just an idea, or something else that will level the bike.

I have found my current GSA LC much harder than my previous GSAs to put up on the centre stand. So much so I thought there was something wrong with stands fitting or the curve of the feet.
I’ve only been getting fatter so it should be easier!
It’s too uncomfortable to do with thin soled work shoes (and too slippy). Previous models - no bother.

Save yourself the time and effort - just use the side-stand!

I've dropped my GSA twice in the 5 months since owning it. Both times have been when moving it around and mostly due to my own stupidity.
Starting to feel worried every time I get near it now! :)

The first time was on the driveway in front of the neighbour, and the second time was this afternoon after washing the bike.

Was putting the bike on the centre stand in the garage, and my wet foot slipped on the shiny centre stand lever then down she went! :(
Somehow, the only damage was a broken mirror bolt and my pride.

Please tell me I'm not the only one that has trouble 'keeping it up'. I never had any problems with my previous GS, but this GSA doesn't want to stay upright!

Also, has anyone come across any products that add a bit more grip to the centre stand lever? The bit that you put your foot on.

Cheers, Matt

Welcome to the club. I also dropped mine sat stationary at traffic lights, changed foot - foot into a dip, and over she went.

Re: slipping off the centre stand; I ground little marks into the centre stand lever with a dremel and then painted over to stop them rusting, gave a little grip to the surface. But I now also leave the side stand down when the bike's up on the centre stand so that when I push it off of the centre stand, should it go wrong, I just need to pull it towards me and the side stand will catch it.

I fitted some Machine Art X-Heads. Lovely. A year later, I dropped it - boot caught foot peg and I was too late getting foot to the floor. The X-Head cover snapped in half. So much for quality kit.

I really need “30mm lower” Wilbers but budget isn’t even close.
