My 2010 GSA was suffering from random stalling, so first of all I balanced the throttle bodies and installed a new TPS, no change. It would stall as I accelerated out over the kerb onto the road, it sometimes stalled if I gave it some beans and then braked aggressively, it was totally random. I have some replacement coils on the way so was hoping that may cure the problem.......yesterday I took her for an MOT, following the usual having to read the mileage to the MOT tester as they find it difficult to comprehend that the bike really does have 153,000 miles on her, the MOT tester took her out......and she stalled just as he left the exit  we had a chat about it and he pointed to.....................
Ok, let’s cut to the chase, I am a dickehead :blast the fucking side stand was lolloping around as the springs have stretched, not helped by the weight of the camel toe every time the bike went off a kerb or hit a bump the bloody thing was cutting out!! So this morning I took off the camel toe, managed to hook up the springs a bit further away so the stand retracts and does not lollop around and just to make sure bypassed the whole thing. Have just been out for a 50 mile stall free ride. The lesson I have learnt is don’t discount the obvious :thumb2
She is still a bit snatchy on low throttle, so the coils will hopefully help anyway.

By the way, the stand was only lolloping around about 25mm.

That is one hell of a heads up, now we know to check the spring after 150,000 miles........................:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2:clap:clap:clap but it is true we tend to forget the extra weight of the camel toe.

The other thing was that I tend to ride with the balls of my feet on the pegs, so because the cut off switch point on the side stand was so far up, my heel was resting and sometimes pushing down on the side stand cutting off the engine :blast

Thanks for the feedback.

Perhaps the odd on/off throttle stutter I have could simply be my sidestand/cameltoe ?

My sidestand was flopping about, at only 33,000. Tightened it up and no problems. Had one little misfire and reminded me of my old GSXR11 that when I hit a bump while accelerating it would cut out, turned out stand was worn and would cause the sidestand switch to cut it out as it bounced around. Learnt from this! At least it was an easy fix for you!

Don't be embarassed, you've given us something else to store in the memory bank for if our bikes start playing up. Thanks! :thumb

Used to happen on my DRZ when I first started off-roading.
Someone isolated the switch and my skill level improved massively.
I went from falling off 30 times an afternoon to a mere 10 or 12.

A friend of mine found it on Facebook, it was taken a few days ago, I do remember seeing someone taking photos, the guy sells them without the watermark for a fiver ........have ordered it... :thumb

Just found another one going the other way, this is going to cost me a fortune :blast
But, if you look you can see my heel resting on the side stand, this was after I had taken off the camel toe which makes the foot bigger, so I can clearly see how I must have been pushing it down with my heel and the bike cutting out

It might be just the angle of the photo........but that side stand doesn't look right.
It looks overly bent (not in a #Pride way)
Might explain your foot catching it.
