Slowing down to turn into petrol station, changed from 3rd to 2nd and the engine completely cutout. Rear wheel locks solid, clutch in and coasted to a halt. Bike still in second, clutch in, hit starter but engine won't start. Paddle bike ('08 GSA by the way) to safety at the side of the road. Into neutral, ignition off then back on, hit the starter and engine fires straight back up. No more problems for the rest of a 120 mile journey.

The rider behind me said he saw me hit a rut in the road then the rear wheel lock up but I don't recall the bike hitting a bump. Anyway that shouldn't be a problem on a GSA!! I know the engine kill switch wasn't touched. I had a problem with a sidestand cutout switch on another Beemer but that was at least repeatable.

Any ideas anyone?

fpc....

could be and the wheel locked just because you were in a low gear?

other then the wheel locking the symptoms were very similar to mine when the fpc failed...i.e. intermittant

Or could it be that the ignition key switched itself off? Unusual, but not unknown. The bump might have been the killer if the key was not fully turned and engaged.

It happens to me from time to time for no reason. Mines an 08 GSA 11000 miles used all year. Remus headers and can, K +N air filter. It occurs sometimes when filtering through traffic at slow speed in second and you go to pull away and also it has happen after a good blast then pulling up at a junction looking to go and ....... stall. It is only every now and again and I have mentioned it here before with no real answer as to why. I have just come to live with it as it does only happen occasionally and is not something that is happening on a daily or even weekly basis :)

they all do that sir! lol

I d see if it happens again... Mine does the odd stall from cold... Keeps good idle, the minute you try to open up a little it bogs down and cuts out... It always restarts though..
