Folks just spoken to my insurance company (Big D) about the mods for my new bike (Pick up 10th Oct ) . Guy was helpful especially when he said no change in premium.

He asked if it was a new 2017 model which it is. He pointed out that I need to notify them if i remove the reflectors. They are MOT failure :blagblah:blagblah

"If removed - classed as performance modification. If I remove them and don't tell them and have claim - not insured"

Policy booklet is very vague. Reads basically if there is change you tell them and they decide. Another way to extract cash me thinks.

Look at it this way, a car running a red light at night may just see those reflectors and manage to avoid you, I'd rather keep my legs than be more worried about trying to look cool, just a thought!
cheers

Totally agree. Mine will stay. But think large number will remove them unaware of insurance implication. When look at Euro 4 threads on various bike forums it's all about removing reflectors

I wonder how many of them removing the reflectors ride around in hi vis clothing, orange helmets or polite vests :blast

Victim of a SMIDSY, you've taken your reflectors off and the computer says no...

That's the great thing about adventure bikes they bring you joy and new challenges every day

I personally wouldn't take them off, but honestly, I really can't see the point of them, if a vehicle pulling out of a junction hasn't seen that fecking great light at the front, he sure as hell ain't going to see those reflectors until it's too late.

It's a GS. Surely they'll be covered in 'global tour' mud?

I've decided to attach them to my Shoei, that way they're higher up, and will be more visible if I shake my head from side to side very fast at night.:thumb

I'll phone my insurance company in the morning, to let them know.
