Folks just spoken to my insurance company (Big D) about the mods for my new bike (Pick up 10th Oct ) . Guy was helpful especially when he said no change in premium.
He asked if it was a new 2017 model which it is. He pointed out that I need to notify them if i remove the reflectors. They are MOT failure

"If removed - classed as performance modification. If I remove them and don't tell them and have claim - not insured"
Policy booklet is very vague. Reads basically if there is change you tell them and they decide. Another way to extract cash me thinks.
