Not sure if this has been posted by anyone else but had my bike serviced today at North Oxford and new Ring Aerial fitted.

Matt(top guy) and Simon (top guy) were busy sorting out recall letters, seems BMW Gmbh are now happy with the new Ring Aerial and have issued a recall !!! a recall to finally solve the dreaded EWS issue.

I have had it happen 4 times in total so hopefully no more worries about the dreaded Amber Triangle and those three dreaded letters - "E W S"

Suggest you all check your post over the next few days as I guess this will be across all dealers.

AFAIK its not a full recall only certain bikes

Stumpy

I phoned NOG yesterday on an unrelated issue and mentioned i was going down to Spain next week. They checked if i was on the recall for this there and then. :thumb2 My bike was on the list and they booked me in for it before i go. Top people. There were just over 300 in their area. Reckon they will be busy!
I have never had a problem with it anyway but extra peace of mind is good i suppose. (im bound to have a problem with a new one now i have said that.:blast

Is yours a Sept 2007, cause so is mine:thumb

Mine was in for a 30k service yesterday and they told me mine was due the EWS recall so it`s going in at the end of the month.

Only issue for me is it`s been problem free from the word go and hope this doesn`t open up Pandora`s box.....

I just called SBW motorrad and they said that there was no recall notice and want to charge me £38.80+VAT for a spare antenna.
They helpfully said that there was a problem with the part and it would be replaced under warranty on failure.
I had better not stray far from home then!
Not very impressed so far with SBW..:spitfire

North Oxford have just confirmed the recall to me and that it is only a certain range of chassis numbers that are affected. My bike is an '08 GS from late march and is in the recall range. It goes into NOG in a couple of weeks and will be going there for all it's subsequent servicing..

Mine is Mar 2007. Thus, so far it seems to cover at least bikes between Mar 2007 and Mar 2008 from Gadgetblokes post.

Im the same as you Bilco, trouble free so far and hope this doesnt change it.

Sounds like some dealers (e.g. NOG) are ahead of others in getting this moving.

I had a letter from them today to say that it needed doing on my K1200S (although never heard of a failure on them before).

I don't have it anymore, but nice of them to ask if I wanted it fixed :aidan

Having tried not to worry about all the EWS complaints here, I'm now paranoid that I'm off on a long trip in 2 days time, and probabaly won't be able to get it sorted before I go :o

I dont suppose you asked if you could keep the old one as a spare seeing as like me you havent had any problems with it so far.:nenau
I will ask when i take mine in next week but forearmed with a precedent might be useful.

I've a 06 GSA with 20k on the clock and is not included within the recall, as confirmed with Pidcock's this morning.
