Extended Warranty beware... now resolved

eye narf glad i got an 1150......

I would make a contribution, say, a bit of the labour. That way you will get warranty on the F/D...:augie:augie:augie

Unless things have changed, if BMW pay for the lot, there's NO warranty on the repair....:augie:augie:augie

All steamed up!

This all happened on the 12th - last Friday and everyone seems to get excited ...but it is all sorted out today - Tuesday; Why all the fuss, If you lived here in France you would become more patient or soon expire with high blood pressure.

His bike is a 2006:augie

so there was no warranty on the original part? this thread is actually called "Extended Warranty beware". who's bike are we talking about here? i'm now totally confused.

anyway...

anyway, my point: WTF would anyone expect bmw be dumb enough to let you pay a piffling contribution that entitled you to an extension of the warranty? :eek

Generally insurance based warranties aren't worth the paper on which they are written!

More "get-out" clauses than I don't know what. My favourite, a long time ago now, was "any damage arising from another failure" or words to that effect. So oil pump fails and knackers the engine you get a new oil pump?:blast.

Save your money for the majority of repairs that won't be covered.

It ain't as mysterious as you make out......................if you knew then BMW system - you'd understand and this dealer has ensured the customer is happy:thumb

Mysterious? I'd call it very odd that Mondial refuse to pay yet don't appear to have given a reason why? and then BMW chip in and agree to pay for the repair in full :augie

And FWIW The Smudger is right. If BMW pay for the repair in full then the warranty remains with them and not the OP so I would suggest a contribution is made by the OP (even if it's only £1) that way he will be entitled to full parts/labour warranty on the repaired item/s :thumb2

I wonder how many poor suckers accept the first response and end up having to pay the whole whack? :(

Did Mondial every state why they weren't going to pay out on something that is specifically covered in the extended warranty policy? Be nice to know, if they are going to make a habit of it, perhaps people will be less inclined to fork out for the warranty every year.

I have been told by every dealer I spoke to when looking for a bike the FD is definately covered, the book clearly states it is and then BMW try to wriggle out.

Piss poor Mr BMW, and the dealer should have immediately challenged BMW and not left it for you to complain, at the end of the day you are the customer and therefore keeping Rainbow in business.

Had you been stupid enough to not challenge it the dealer would have taken your hard earned, and prefered to have done that rather than fight your corner.

Oh well another dealer of the "may get my cash in future" list.

This is a strange thread, with all sorts of lose ends and odd detours.

Did Mondial every state why they weren't going to pay.....

.....Now, that is the question to ask.

......or why the dealer said Mondial were not going to pay? Which is not quite the same thing.

It beats squawking, for sure.

Bloody hell .... the dealer gets BM to pay out in full and you strike them ;off; your list
Rainbow will be pleased

Errr....................the dealer did 'fight' the corner and that's why the situation has been resolved....................so get your facts right:rolleyes:

After reading your long running previous post......................i'm sure they would be well advised to steer clear of you:blast

There must have been a technicality with extended warranty insurer, which the dealer (and client) obviously didn't agree with........................so they took it up direct with BMW and succeeded with a full replacement...............IIRC
