Farkling my new to me R1150GSA.

Nope AJ’s (Vertu) at Shipley or Barrie Robson at York
I see the yellow one is out of stock now (it wasn’t last year) and blue is now back in stock (was obsolete)
$36 on Max BMW tonight and that works out to about £29
I bought 2 yellow ones and 2 red ones a couple of years ago and put them in the loft for future
They were less than £24 each

I paid £35 including shipping so not so bad!

classic mod allows more fuel to be put in the tank and quicker refill for a hot dustoff when on the road...!

don't use a cordless drill near the filler mouth... when it's full of fuel or sunny... cos that would be a very quick way to stop

and do that external fuel filter mod... another classic...

I’ll see how I get on, but it’s nice to have the option 😁 I’ve an SC project on my 1250GSA and it just makes me smile every time I crank open the throttle or roll off for that matter 😁

Snap 😁😁 not much louder than stock but sounds the business and looks class.

have you drilled the filler neck yet...?

I drilled 2 holes and then cut out the bit between. 32 litres capacity and quick/less splashy when refuelling. Just don’t fill it and leave it in the sun…
And spin it round 180 degrees while you’re at it. Loads easier to fill up.

You just rotate the outer part by undoing the 6 bolts and then refit them after spinning the cap around. A 2min job that makes it easier to get a fuel nozzle in.

Same here - Y-piece and Remus combined are too loud for my taste as I was reminded when I tried it again last year. The optimal arrangement for me is Y-piece with the standard can but others go the other way - keep the cat but fit a stubby, Remus or whatever.

I tried that for a bit....

Now I just run my Rocksters on the catalyser and a tip. Not much louder than stock, and room for full-sized panniers.

Just needs some nicely flammable rag... :D

(just for reference - when I did this the tank was empty, and the rag was more to stop swarf getting into the tank. ;) )

That tank mod is one I never bothered with. I generally need a leg stretch at tank fill-up time anyway (and mine is a standard 1150 GS).
I got p’d off with having to refuel every other day when commuting to work in the early 2000’s, so swapped to a GSA tank and this mod in 2004. It’s not just about doing long distances on one journey… I could stretch to every 4th or 5th day instead 😊👍

That's the main reason I did it too (on my 2nd and 3rd Rocksters anyway, after that it just became a habit...). Doing a 110mile round journey every day - I was trying to use the cheapest fuel on that route I could, but the standard range can't "quite" make it a 2-day event, I ended up filling every day, which was tedious as hell. Adding about 30 miles of range (ish) meant I could fill up every other day instead. :) IIRC the Rockster tank goes on to reserve at about 145 miles normally, (and there's 45 miles in that reserve) but with the mod - the reserve light comes on at about 165/170 miles instead, with 98RON and gentle, efficient riding I've even seen it come on at 205 miles.....

And it's as simple as unbolting the filler cap and drilling two holes in it?!

Part 7

Finally got the repurposed Remus can fitted and what a peach it is!

Had some fun aligning the hidden exhaust bracket fitting but got her in the end.

Excuse the state of the garage. 😃

Spoke to Mr Gemi last night and I’m in the process of getting a Stage 15 Chip as well. Anyone have any experience with the updated chips? And does anyone know if this bike has one already fitted? Video of the sound to follow 👍🏻
