Evening, we’re travelling to Seil Island to visit a mate later this month and would like to use the Portavadie-Tarbert ferry. I was informed that not long ago it was a foot passengers only only ferry. Can anyone give more up to date information on this please?

Best to check on their website.

Has been re-deployed in the past to another route when there's a shortage of ferries. :thumby:

This. You’ll be answered by a very nice lass based in the region. In English! (Gaelic is an option.)

The ferry was reported on here recently as being back to normal. In Calmac terms, that could mean anything these days, so best check via the phone.

You can drive across the bridge over the Atlantic onto Seil, I assume there is only one island called Seil?
The one I’ve been to is 7/8miles from Oban, also home to the Inn of the trousers and the stone skimming championship.
Al.

All correct.
I think the op was hoping to avoid the tour around Loch Fyne via Inverary etc by using the ferry to assist in his journey north and west, on his way to Seil; Clachan Bridge is the only way on to Seil for vehicles....t'was ever thus.
As an aside, there is much local consternation over a local authority proposal to put traffic lights on the Clachan Bridge. Not because there has been a sudden outbreak of crashes thereon, but essentially because they can. There is even a petition! The bulk of the locals see no need to alter the nature of the bridge and its environs by plonking ATS on it. Useless fact for the day.

Aye you can. We’ve driven over it many times when visiting my mate. Had an overnight in the motorhome in the car park opposite the Inn of the Trousers. Been to Easdale too, didn’t get anywhere near the back wall skimming stones though.

A mate keeps his yacht on Kerrera across from Oban, we have a had a couple of trips to Seil and Easedale, not managed to get there in the van yet, hoping to get to the area you are thinking of travelling up from and across to Gigha later this year in the van, again been there on the boat and it was lovely.

Do you know you can get cheap ferry tickets from the Co-op ?
Ferry is running. This was taking 2 weeks ago when I went over.
